It's been a few months since we witnessed the introduction of new operating systems at Apple's WWDC20 developer conference. A few weeks after that, these systems, namely iOS and iPadOS 14, watchOS 7 and tvOS 14, were released to the public. We have traditionally seen the largest number of news in iOS and iPadOS, but great news can really be found in all systems. In iOS and iPadOS 14, we also saw new security functions, among other things. We have already mentioned the green and orange dot that appears at the top of the display, and then we can mention the option to set the exact selection of photos that certain applications will have access to. Let's see how to do it together.

How to set apps to access photos on iPhone

If you opened an application in iOS or iPadOS 14 that works with the Photos application, you had to choose whether it would have access to all photos or only to a certain selection. If you accidentally selected only a selection and wanted to allow access to all photos, or vice versa, you can of course change this preference. Just proceed as follows:

  • First, of course, make sure that your iPhone or iPad is updated to iOS 14, therefore iPadS 14.
  • If you meet this condition, open the native application Settings.
  • Then go down a bit here below and locate the box Privacy, which you tap.
  • Then click on the option within this settings section Photos.
  • It will now appear application list, in which click here application, for which you want to change the preset.
  • After opening a specific application, you have a choice of three options:
    • Selected photos: if you select this option, you must manually set the photos and videos that the application will have access to;
    • All photos: if you choose this option, the application will have access to absolutely all photos;
    • None: if you choose this option, the application will not have access to the photos.
  • In case you choose an option above selected photos, so you then use the button Edit photo selection at any time you can select additional media that the application will have access to.

It can be seen that Apple is really trying to protect its users in every possible way from the leakage of personal data, which is more than frequent with various applications. If you deny apps access to most photos and allow only a few, then in the event of a potential leak, you will be sure that in your case, only those photos that you have made available could have been leaked. So I definitely recommend that for some apps you go to the trouble of setting up only selected photos that they will have access to - it's definitely worth it.
