If you are one of the Apple fans, then you have certainly not missed the release of new operating systems, led by iOS and iPadOS 13.4. Within these operating systems, especially in iPadOS 13.4, we finally got perfect and native mouse and trackpad support. Although this support was part of the initial version of iPadOS 13, the setup was very complicated and awkward. This has changed in iPadOS 13.4, and in today's guide we will look at how the behavior, appearance and other functions of the mouse or trackpad can be adjusted.

Connecting a mouse or trackpad

First, in this case, of course, it is necessary to indicate how you can connect a mouse or trackpad to your iPad. It is definitely not the case that you have to use a Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad - you can easily reach for an ordinary Bluetooth or cable mouse, which you simply connect using a USB adapter. In the case of a Bluetooth mouse or trackpad, just go to to connect Settings -> Bluetooth, where you connect the device using the classic procedure. However, before connecting, make sure that the mouse/trackpad is not connected to another device, it could cause mischief. Furthermore, some users think that a trackpad mouse can only be connected to iPad Pros, which is definitely not true. This option applies to all iPads that can be updated to iPadOS 13.4.

Pointer settings

As soon as you manage to connect the mouse or trackpad to the iPad, you can easily set the appearance, behavior and other options of the pointer. After connecting, you must have noticed that the indicator is not displayed in the classical form of an arrow, but a dot. If you want to adjust the pointer or dot, go to Settings and click on the section Disclosure. Here, just click on the option Pointer control. In this section, you can easily set, for example, higher contrast, automatic pointer hiding, or his color. It is not missing either setting the speed, size, or animation of the pointer. These pointer settings will apply to both a connected mouse and a connected trackpad. It should be noted that you must have a mouse or trackpad connected to the iPad to view these settings. Otherwise, the Pointer Control column in the settings will not appear.

Trackpad settings

If you're a trackpad lover and the mouse simply doesn't make sense to you anymore, I have good news for you. The trackpad can also be used in the case of an iPad, and it must be noted that it works perfectly here. In addition to this, advanced trackpad behavior preferences are available in the settings. If you want to view these settings, go to Settings -> General -> Trackpad. Here you can set for example pointer speed, scroll orientation, tap-click, or secondary two-finger click. Even in this case, you must have a trackpad connected to display the Trackpad box in the settings.
