In recent months, the Instagram social network has been full of bots. Specifically, these are Instagram profiles that add comments under photos, or they can add you to different groups in which they then share different links. These "fake" profiles have only one task - to get your attention. And what else can attract the attention of a person, especially a man, than a slightly inappropriate comment together with a half-naked photo of a woman. Most of these profiles and links point to different sites. At best, these sites want to entice you with special paid content, at worst, you can easily become a victim of phishing. If you want to prevent bots from adding you to Instagram groups, keep reading.

How to prevent bots from adding you to groups on Instagram

If you want to set on your Instagram profile so that bots cannot add you to groups in which inappropriate or fraudulent content is often shared, it is not difficult. You can find the procedure below, in any case it is necessary that you have active professional account – see procedure below.

  • First on your iPhone app Instagram open.
  • Once you've done that, tap on the bottom right your profile icon.
  • On the next screen, tap on the top right three lines icon.
  • This will bring up a menu in which click on the box at the top Settings.
  • Now you need to find and click on the option Privacy.
  • Once you've done that, now in the Interactions category, tap on News.
  • In the end, all you have to do is go down in the category Allow others to add you to groups checked possibility Just the people you follow.

If you do not have an active professional account, it is not difficult to activate. Just tap on the profile in the top right of the three lines icon, and then on Settings. Then tap at the bottom Switch to a professional account. In the end, just pass introduction, choose any one category and it's done.

In the above-mentioned way, you will be able to add you to groups on Instagram only those users that you personally follow. Since probably none of us follow any bots, this procedure can be used to solve unwanted additions to group conversations. In addition, I personally have never had a stranger try to add me to a group conversation, that is, except for a bot. It is therefore an ideal solution that solves the constant display of all kinds of requests. It would still be great if Instagram worked on automatically deleting inappropriate comments - but we won't do much about it and will have to wait.
