With the arrival of watchOS 7, we got a brand new feature on the Apple Watch that can motivate you to wash your hands properly. With this, Apple more or less tried to respond to the current coronavirus pandemic, during which we should pay more attention to hygiene than ever before. The Apple Watch starts the countdown for hand washing automatically after it detects running water using the microphone and motion sensors when washing. But the problem is that from time to time this function starts up, for example, when washing the dishes and during other similar activities, which is not entirely pleasant. If you would like to turn off the hand washing countdown on Apple Watch, then continue reading.

How to turn off hand washing countdown on Apple Watch

If you would like to disable the function on your Apple Watch that takes care of displaying the hand washing countdown, it is not difficult. You can do the entire procedure both directly on the Apple Watch and on the iPhone in the Watch application, below you can find both procedures:

Apple Watch

  • First you need to move to the applications screen - so press digital crown.
  • In the list of applications, find and click the native application named Settings.
  • Once you've done that, go down a notch below, where find and click the box Hand washing.
  • Here you just need to use the switch deactivated function Hand washing countdown.

iPhone and the Watch app

  • First, go to the native app on your iPhone Watch.
  • Once you've done that, tap on the option in the bottom menu My watch.
  • Now move a piece below, until you hit the box Hand washing, which you click.
  • Here you just need to use the switch deactivated function Hand washing countdown.

In the above-mentioned way, you can simply turn off the display of the hand washing countdown directly on the Apple Watch or on the iPhone in the Watch application. As I mentioned above, most users want to deactivate this function mainly because of the not-so-perfect functionality - sometimes the countdown is turned on when you don't wash your hands. However, it should be noted that in the early versions of watchOS 7, this function practically did not work at all and turned on even during various ordinary movements. So Apple has definitely worked on recognition and who knows, maybe this function will be much more accurate and useful in the future.
