At the beginning of this week, Apple rushed with new versions of its operating systems after the first conference of the year. Specifically, we saw the release of iOS and iPadOS 14.5, macOS 11.3 Big Sur, watchOS 7.4 and tvOS 14.5. At the aforementioned conference, Apple also presented, among other things, the new generation of Apple TV 4K, where the insides and the controller have changed in particular. At the same time, the Californian giant rushed with a new function, thanks to which you can use your iPhone to calibrate the colors of the Apple TV.

How to calibrate colors on Apple TV using iPhone

If you would like to use the new function for color calibration, you must meet several conditions in this case as well. As for Apple TV, you must have the latest Apple TV 4K (2021), or an older Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD. Calibration using an iPhone is only available on these devices. The Apple TV itself must then have tvOS 14.5 and later, in the case of an iPhone it is necessary to have iOS 14.5 and later installed. The last condition is that the iPhone has Face ID - if it is older and has Touch ID, then you will not be able to perform the calibration. If you meet the mentioned requirements, proceed as follows:

  • Right from the start it is necessary that of course yours Apple TV launched.
  • Once launched, go to the native app on the main page Settings.
  • Now scroll down under Settings below and click the box Video and audio.
  • Once you've done that, get off in this section below to the category Calibration and click open Color balance.
  • Then unlock your iPhone and hold it in front of the TV for a while.
  • It will appear on the iPhone display within a few seconds notifications from Apple TV, on which click
  • It will then appear at the bottom of the screen color calibration interface. Click here Continue.
  • Now wait a few seconds and as soon as you are prompted, yours Turn the iPhone display towards the TV.

You can of course calibrate the TV again at any time in exactly the same way. Note that you should have the classic color display mode set on your TV when calibrating. If, for example, you have selected Live or Sport mode, the calibration may not take place completely correctly. If you do not see the notification from Apple TV for color calibration on your iPhone, you can restart both devices. Of course, make sure that you meet all of the above conditions.
