Press Release: We live in the age of the Internet, when you are not online, it is as if you do not exist. The possibility to connect at the cottage, in the subway or somewhere in the middle of nowhere is therefore a matter of course. People expect it, even demand it. And who is to arrange it? Domestic operators. How did they do their job? Today we looked at his teeth.
Each of the "big three" Czech mobile operators creates its own LTE coverage maps based on different methodologies and data. They mostly try to show the quality of their services in the best light. So how to judge them objectively? Using the Czech Telecommunications Office (ČTÚ), which manages its own map.
Objectivity first
The CTU map is different from those created by the operators themselves uses the most accurate point-area signal propagation model, which is available within the framework of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a professional international organization under the UN. This model takes into account a detailed analysis of the terrain between the transmitter and the receiver, including all possible propagation models radio signal, and it is also suitable for calculations at a small distance from the transmitter, which is crucial for the analysis of signal coverage in cellular networks.
The people of Prague can whistle, things are already worse in Karlovy Vary
Mapo, mapo, tell us who has the country with the fastest internet coverage here? And there it is, a moment of tension, surprisingly company AT 2. It is the only one that covers the entire capital city of Prague, both territorially and in terms of population. The signal is also very good in Vysočina, where it reaches 97,7%, which is 0,1% more than its competitor T-Mobile can boast. Vodafone it even lags behind by a full 2,7%.
The opposite situation prevails in the Královohradecky district, where they are T-Mobile even O2 trailed Vodafone by an average of 4 percent. Even the citizens of the South Bohemian Region have to face such vast differences between the signals of individual operators. By far the worst situation is in Karlovy Vary, the highest level of high-speed internet coverage here is only around 85%.
Can we look forward to a 5G network in the future?
Speeds in gigabits per second, latencies in milliseconds, networks for mobiles, IoT and home connections, the new 5G network, which should start testing in 2019. So far, only the specifications of the first standard have been approved by the members of the 3GPP, a project based on the cooperation of six organizations from different countries aimed at developing a next-generation network, at a meeting in Lisbon, Portugal, held in December 2017. The network should be 10 times faster than LTE and also occupy bands below 700 MHz or, conversely, millimeter waves in the order of tens of GHz.
So to O2, their advertisement for coverage and their approach to the customer is something incomprehensible. I was with them for 15 years, and as a reward I got a fine because I dared to ask if they would reduce my tariff, where I paid around 900 for the fact that neither the internet nor the network worked for me, when someone called me or I was it's like I'm talking into a box. They confirmed this with the fact that the signal is already on the main road :))) so on maternity leave if I wanted to call. so maybe the child on the back and go to the ditch to the main road. So withdrawal from the contract and additional payment of the contract, which was supposed to last another year or complete the commitment and without the possibility of using his services. Now I'm with Vodafone, where I never wanted to go, and maybe O2 should learn something about how they treat customers.
jj old acquaintances o2 I had a dial up from them in the past (they were just switching from Telekom to o2) and even the service didn't work, so they charged outrageous €. Only after the threat of court did they cancel the charges, so that I don't have to worry, that everything is ok. After years, the company tariff at work (again from 02) everything is fine until the time of cancellation - you have an arrears here + penalties for promised canceled services. Again the threat of penalties and even execution. (I can't write how it was solved) The problem now is that I live in the mountains where the only one with decent internet is Kyslik, so I'll have to go back to them or be without internet :()
