If you follow the events in the apple world, you surely did not miss the introduction of new apple phones from Apple a few weeks ago. Specifically, the Californian giant came up with a total of four models, namely the iPhone 13 mini, 13, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max. For example, we got a smaller cutout for Face ID, a more powerful and economical A15 Bionic chip, and the Pro models will offer a ProMotion display with an adaptive refresh rate. But it doesn't end there, because Apple, just like several previous years in a row, also focused on the photo system, which again received a big improvement this year.

How to take macro photos on an older iPhone

One of the main new camera features on the iPhone 13 Pro (Max) is the ability to take macro photos. The mode for taking macro pictures is always activated automatically on these devices after approaching the photographed object. An ultra-wide-angle camera is used to take these pictures. Of course, Apple has no plans to make this function available on older devices, so officially you simply cannot take a macro photo on them. A few days ago, however, there was a major update to the well-known photo application Halide, which makes available the option for taking macro pictures even on older Apple phones - specifically on iPhones 8 and newer. If you would also like to take macro photos on your iPhone, just proceed as follows:

  • First, it is necessary that you downloaded application Halide Mark II - Pro Camera – just tap on this link.
  • Once you've downloaded the app, download it in the classic way run and choose your subscription form.
    • A free one-week trial is available.
  • Subsequently, in the lower left part of the application, click on circled AF icon.
  • More options will appear, where again at the bottom left click on flower icon.
  • This is it you will find yourself in Macro mode and you can dive into macro photography.

So, using the above method, you can easily take macro photos on your iPhone 8 and later. This mode in the Halide app can automatically select the lens to use for the best possible result. In addition, after taking a macro picture, a special adjustment and enhancement of the photo quality takes place, thanks to artificial intelligence. When using the Macro mode, a slider will also appear at the bottom of the application, with which you can manually focus precisely on the object you decide to photograph. The resulting macro photos are of course not as detailed and nice as with the latest iPhone 13 Pro (Max), but on the other hand, it is definitely not a misery. You can compare the macro mode in the Halide application with the classic mode in the Camera application. Thanks to this, you will see that with Halide you are able to focus on an object that is several times closer to your lens. Halide is a professional photo application that offers a lot - so you can definitely go through it. You might find that you like it a lot more than the native Camera.
