Apple never forgets to show samples of photos taken with the new iPhone generation during the keynote. The improved camera in the new iPhone XS was given quite a lot of time during the presentation, and the photos shown were breathtaking in many ways. And even though the new iPhone will not go on sale until September 21, a select few got the chance to try the new product earlier. That's why we already have the first two collections of photos taken by photographers Austin Mann and Pete Souza with their new iPhone XS.

The iPhone XS features a dual 12MP camera, and two major innovations were highlighted during the keynote. The first of them is the Smart HDR function, which is supposed to improve the display of shadows in the photo and faithfully display details. Another novelty is the improved bokeh effect in combination with the portrait mode, where it is now possible to change the depth of field after taking a photo.

Travels around Zanzibar captured on the iPhone XS

The first collection is from photographer Austin Mann, who captured his travels around the island of Zanzibar on the new iPhone XS and then had them published on the web PetaPixel.com. Austin Mann's photos confirm the aforementioned improvements, but they also show the fact that the iPhone XS camera has its limits. For example, if you look closely at the photo of the can, you can see the blurred edges.

The author of the second collection is former Obama photographer Pete Souza. In the photos published by the site dailymail.co.uk it captures famous places from the capital of the United States. Unlike Mann, this collection features low-light photos that allow us to better understand the true capabilities of the new camera.

The new iPhone XS has without a doubt one of the best cameras ever in a mobile phone. And despite the fact that in many cases it seems to be perfect and comparable to professional cameras, it also has its limits. Despite the minor flaws, however, the new camera is a huge step forward and looking at the photos is truly captivating.
