At the moment, there is not much that is being discussed on the Internet other than the outflow of users from the WhatsApp application. They are leaving because Facebook, which is behind WhatsApp, has prepared new terms of use for the aforementioned chat application. In these terms, it is said that Facebook should gain access to many other user data from WhatsApp, which it should then use for precise ad targeting. Quite understandably, this doesn't sit well with the millions of users who have stopped using WhatsApp and switched to an alternative app - the hottest candidates being Telegram and Signal.
But the problem is that when you switch from one communication application to another, you typically do not have access to old messages from the older communication application. It was in the interests of the developers of alternative applications for WhatsApp to find a way to transfer these chats, ideally with media. If you are a Telegram user, I have absolutely great news for you. This application can already handle the export of chats from WhatsApp - and it is certainly not complicated. If you want to find out how, keep reading.
This information is collected by the Facebook application:
How to transfer conversations from WhatsApp to Telegram
Fortunately, if you want to transfer conversations from WhatsApp to Telegram, it is not difficult. Of course, you must have both applications primarily installed and ideally also updated. If you meet this condition, proceed as follows:
- Move to the native app right away WhatsApp.
- Within this application, move to the section in the bottom menu Cottages.
- Then select here from all conversations specific, that you want to transfer, and click on her.
- This will take you to the conversation itself, where at the top tap on username.
- Once you've done so, a profile screen will appear, which you can scroll down to below.
- Now click on the box below Export chat.
- A menu will appear in which you can choose whether to appear they should also export the media or not.
- If you choose to export with media, the whole export process will take longer.
- After the chat is fully prepared, it will be displayed at the bottom of the screen sharing menu.
- Here you need to find and tap on the application bar Telegram.
- If you don't see Telegram in the list, click on the far right Další and select it here.
- Immediately after that, the Telegram application will appear with all of them available conversations.
- In this list, find and click here conversation, to which the messages are to be transferred.
- Then all you have to do is confirm the action by tapping on Import in the window that appears.
- Finally, just wait for the whole process to complete.
After the export of messages from WhatsApp is completed, you will already see all the messages directly in the Telegram conversation. Unfortunately, you have to transfer each conversation separately anyway, there is currently no option to transfer all conversations at once. Fortunately, it is nothing complicated. If you haven't switched to another application for the time being, mainly because of the impossibility of moving messages, then definitely consider where you will move from a security point of view - because some applications will not help you at all. You can see a complete overview of the security of various chat applications in the article I am attaching below.
Hello,
some claim that the new WA measures do not apply to the EU. Presumably because its legislation does not allow it. Do you know anything about it?
Thank you for your reply, Jiri Niznansky
Yes, you are right, the new conditions do not apply to the European market.
I would be quite interested in comparing and pointing out how safe individual applications are. E.g. Telegram is not exactly among the most secure. And already for the collection of metadata, such as IP addresses, phone numbers, contacts, timestamps, and also due to the use of proprietary encryption.
In addition, encryption is not turned on by default and you have to turn it on manually for each chat.
In my opinion, switching from WhatsApp to Telegram is like switching from a roof to a gutter.
In case you're wondering, the app is free, there are no ads. What does the platform live on? Are they pouring money into programmers, testers, infrastructure just to put a smile on the faces of a million people around the world?
A nice comparison of the kecalka from the point of view of security is, for example, here.
