With the arrival of iOS 15, Apple introduced a revolutionary innovation in the form of focus modes, which almost immediately gained a lot of attention. Specifically, these modes have arrived in all operating systems and their goal is to support the productivity of the apple user in various cases. Specifically, the focus modes build on the well-known Do Not Disturb mode and function in much the same way, but they also significantly expand the overall options.

Now we have the opportunity to set special modes, for example for work, study, playing video games, driving and other activities. In this respect, it matters to every apple grower, as we have the entire process in our own hands. But what can we specifically set in them? In this case, we can choose which contacts can call or write to us in the given mode so that we receive a notification at all, or also which applications can make themselves known. Various automations are still offered. The given mode can thus be activated, for example, based on the time, place or running application. Even so, there is plenty of room for improvement. So what changes could the expected iOS 16 system, which Apple will present to us next week, bring?

Potential improvements for focus modes

As we mentioned above, there is more than enough room for improvement in these modes. First of all, it wouldn't hurt if Apple directly gave them a little more attention. Some apple users do not know about them at all, or they do not set them up for fear that it is a more complicated process. This is clearly a shame and a bit of a wasted opportunity, as focus modes can be very helpful for everyday life. This problem should be solved first.

But let's move on to the most important thing - what improvements could Apple actually offer. One suggestion comes from video game players, regardless of whether they play on their iPhones, iPads, or Macs. In this case, of course, you can create a special mode for playing, during which only selected contacts and applications can contact the user. However, what is essential in this regard is the actual launch of this mode. For an activity like gaming, it is definitely not harmful if it is activated automatically without us having to do anything. As we mentioned above, this possibility (automation) is here and even in this particular case it is even more widespread.

The operating system itself sets the mode to start when the game controller is connected. Although it is a step in the right direction, there is still a minor shortcoming. We don't always use the gamepad and it would be better if the mode was activated every time we start any game. But Apple doesn't make it that easy for us. In that case, we have to click on the applications one by one, the launch of which will also open the mentioned mode. At the same time, the operating system itself can recognize to which category the given application belongs. In this respect, it would be much easier if we could just click games in general and not have to waste several minutes "clicking" them.

Some apple users might also find it useful if the focus modes got their own widget. The widget could significantly facilitate their activation without having to "waste time" on the way to the control center. The truth is that we would only save seconds this way, but on the other hand, we could make using the device a little more pleasant.

What will we expect?

Of course, for now it is not even clear whether we will actually see such changes. Anyway, some sources indicate that the expected operating system iOS 16 should indeed bring interesting changes and a number of improvements for concentration modes. Although we do not yet know more detailed information about these innovations, the bright side is that the new systems will be presented on Monday, June 6, 2022, on the occasion of the WWDC 2022 developer conference.
