With the arrival of the iOS/iPadOS 14 operating system, we have seen interesting changes to the user interface, among which are the popular improvements to widgets or the arrival of the so-called application library. After this change, the iPhone came closer to Android, since all new applications are not necessarily on the desktop, but rather hidden in the mentioned library. This is located right behind the last area and in it we can find all the apps installed on the iPhone or iPad, which are also cleverly divided into several categories.

Theoretically, however, an interesting question arises. How could this app library possibly be improved in iOS 16? At first glance, it may seem that it doesn't even need any more news. It generally fulfills its purpose well – it groups apps into the appropriate categories. These are divided according to how we find them already in the App Store itself, and therefore these are groups such as social networks, utilities, entertainment, creativity, finance, productivity, travel, shopping and food, health and fitness, games and others. But let's now look at possible possibilities for further development.

Does the application library need improvement?

As we mentioned above, in theory we can say that the application library is currently in pretty good shape. Even so, there would be some room for improvement. Apple growers, for example, agree to add the possibility of their own categorization, or rather to be able to intervene in the pre-sorted system and make changes to it that suit them personally the most. After all, this might not be completely harmful, and it is true that in some situations a similar change would come in handy. Another similar change is the ability to create your own categories. This goes hand in hand with the aforementioned custom sorting. In practice, it would be possible to connect both of these changes and thus bring additional options to apple growers.

On the other hand, the application library may not suit someone at all. For example, for long-time users of Apple phones, the arrival of iOS 14 may not have been such a good news. They have been used to one solution for years - in the form of all applications arranged on several surfaces - which is why they may not want to get used to the new, somewhat exaggerated "Android" look. That's why it wouldn't hurt to have the option to completely disable this function. So there are several options and it's up to Apple how they deal with the problem.

When will the changes come?

Of course, we don't know if Apple is going to change the application library in any way. In any case, the developer conference WWDC 2022 will take place already in June, during which new operating systems, led by iOS, are traditionally revealed. So we will hear about the next news soon.
