Yesterday, an update was released for Leopard and for those interested in jailbreak a new problem appeared. With this update you won't get the iPhone into DFU mode, which is needed to jailbreak. Immediately, alarming news began to spread on the Internet that Apple is once again continuing the fight against jailbreak. Although that may be true, so be it The Dev Team believes, that it is more about kernel bug and not about targeted intent. The whole problem lies in problematic USB drivers.

But this for jailbreak doesn't have to be an obstacle and there are several solutions to jailbreak despite the new problems. The Dev Team recommends, in addition to jailbreaking, for example, on the Windows operating system, copying 2 kext files from an older version of Leopard (instructions can be found in the forum for this article) or using a USB hub between Mac and iPhone (then connect the iPhone to it, then pull out the cable and connect once again).

This jailbreak limitation is nothing new to me. On new ones DFU mode does not work on unibody Macbooks since the beginning. Now it is clear what it was. Because the Unibody Macbook and Macbook Pro had a newer system than 10.5.5, and that just causes this "error" with USB drivers just like the new 10.5.6 does. But everything can be solved exactly as the Dev Team writes.

As for any jailbreak instructions, so I didn't mention one here on the blog because I don't have a jailbreak on the new iPhone 3G yet and I don't plan to in the near future. And since I don't like to write instructions without personal experience (the last time I jailbroken a first-generation iPhone), that's the very reason why I haven't written a jailbreak guide yet. However, if there is interest, I will translate some instructions from abroad for those interested.
