Apple Watch rules the smartwatch market. In general, it can be said that Apple watches are considered the best in their category, thanks to the excellent integration of hardware with software, great options and advanced sensors. However, their main strength lies in the apple ecosystem. It ties the iPhone and Apple Watch perfectly together and takes them to a whole new level.

On the other hand, the Apple Watch is not flawless and also has a number of not-so-nice flaws. Undoubtedly, the biggest criticism Apple faces is its poor battery life. The Cupertino giant specifically promises an 18-hour endurance for its watches. The only exception is the newly introduced Apple Watch Ultra, for which Apple claims up to 36 hours of battery life. In this respect, this is already a reasonable figure, but it is necessary to take into account that the Ultra model is intended for sports enthusiasts in the most demanding conditions, which is, of course, reflected in its price. Anyway, after years of waiting, we got our first potential solution to the stamina issue.

Low Power Mode: Is It the Solution We Want?

As we mentioned right at the beginning, Apple fans have been calling for longer battery life on the Apple Watch for years, and with each presentation of the new generation, they eagerly await Apple to finally announce this change. However, we have unfortunately not seen this during the entire existence of the apple watch. The first solution comes only with the newly released watchOS 9 operating system in the form of low power mode. Low Power Mode in watchOS 9 can significantly extend battery life by turning off or limiting certain features to save power. In practice, it works exactly the same as on iPhones (in iOS). For example, in the case of the newly introduced Apple Watch Series 8, which is "proud" of 18 hours of battery life, this mode can extend the life by two times, or up to 36 hours.

Although the arrival of the low consumption regime is undoubtedly a positive innovation that can often save many apple growers, on the other hand it opens up a rather interesting discussion. Apple fans are starting to debate whether this is the change we've been expecting from Apple for years. In the end, we got exactly what we've been asking Apple for years - we got better battery life per charge. The Cupertino giant just went about it from a slightly different angle and instead of having to invest in better batteries or rely on a larger accumulator, which would, by the way, affect the overall thickness of the watch, it bet on the power of the software.

When will the battery come with better endurance

So even though we finally got better endurance, the same question that apple lovers have been asking for years is still valid. When will we see an Apple Watch with a longer battery life? Unfortunately, no one knows the answer to this question yet. The truth is that the apple watch really fulfills several roles, which logically affects its consumption, which is why it does not reach the same qualities as its competitors. Do you consider the arrival of low power mode to be a sufficient solution, or would you rather see the arrival of a truly better battery with a larger capacity?
