The iOS operating system is one of the main pillars behind the success of Apple iPhones. In addition, the Cupertino giant relies on the overall emphasis on the security and privacy of its users, which is confirmed by a wide range of various functions. In this regard, we must clearly mention the so-called App Tracking Transparency, whereby Apple practically blocked other applications from tracking the user's activity across websites and applications without express consent.

All this is quite skillfully complemented by other functions emphasizing privacy. iOS allows you to mask your e-mail address, IP address, use Sign in with Apple for anonymous registration and login, and many others. Nevertheless, we would find one relatively fundamental and annoying shortcoming. The paradox is that in its solution Apple can be inspired by the competing Android system.

Division of notifications into two types

As we slightly hinted above, the most fundamental problem lies in notifications. From time to time, apple users themselves complain about annoying notifications directly on their discussion forums, where criticism is most often directed at advertisements. The system itself does not count on any kind of division – there is simply only one pop-up push notification, and in the end it is up to the specific developer how he decides to incorporate this option into his application. Although it's nice that developers have a free hand in this direction, it doesn't always have to be so pleasant for Apple users themselves.

Something like this can then result in the user being shown a completely unnecessary notification, even though he has absolutely zero interest in it. Apple could therefore come up with a rather practical solution. If he generally divided the notifications into two categories – normal and promotional – it could give Apple users another option and possibly allow one of these types to be blocked completely. Thanks to this, we could prevent the mentioned criticism and overall move the capabilities of the Apple operating system iOS forward.

Android has known the solution for years

Promotional notifications are slightly related to the mentioned privacy. As we mentioned above, it is in the area of privacy that Apple is considered to be the absolute number one, while Android, on the other hand, is sharply criticized in this regard. But in this regard, paradoxically, he is several steps ahead. Android has long offered the option to completely block so-called promotional notifications, which is exactly what we described in the paragraph above. Unfortunately, Apple does not offer such an option. It is therefore a question of whether we will see an adequate solution from the Cupertino company, or when. Most likely, we will have to wait for another Friday for the change. Apple presents new versions of its operating systems every year in June, specifically on the occasion of the developer conference WWDC.
