'Stay hungry. Stay crazy.' We honor his memory by continuing to do what he loved.” V the second tweet most likely, Tim Cook pointed out that Apple has not released any products so far this year, by reminding everyone how important it was for Jobs to complete all products down to the last detail. Sapphire glass should be fully produced by GT in the second half of 2014 (25/2)

GT Advanced Technology is the company that will supply Apple with sapphire glass for some of the new products. In order to be able to fully focus on the development of the new production plant in Arizona, GT suspended the production of several other projects, which also affected the company's income at the end of 2013. GT's full-year income thus fell from $733,5 million (year 2012) to $299 million . But GT expects revenue to rise again in the second half of 2014, which would fit into the scenario that at that moment Apple will start selling a new product with sapphire glass, probably the iPhone. The GT company should then earn 600 to 800 million dollars for 2014.

iBeacon gets "Made for iPhone" specification (25/2)

In order for manufacturers of devices with iBeacon technology to place this official designation on their products, they must now meet several Apple criteria. With this move, Apple wants to avoid selling devices that provide iBeacon services to all smartphones and tablets with Bluetooth LE technology. iBeacon works via Bluetooth and allows various organizations (from shops to museums to sports stadiums) to send notifications with various announcements to iOS users in the vicinity of iBeacon beacons. Now, however, it will no longer be possible to use the specific iBeacon technology just like that, but will have to go through an "approval process", similar to the drivers for iOS 7.

A patent troll in Germany lost a court case against Apple (February 28)

In a German court, patent troll IPCom tried again to defeat a major technology company, but failed again. Similar to the case with HTC, IPCom was also unable to convince the court that Apple should pay it $2 billion for infringing its patents related to 3G and LTE devices. IPCom is a typical patent troll - although the company owns 1200 patents related to mobile technologies, it does not manufacture any products, so it is only looking for who to sue where. Several of its patents have already been licensed by IPCom under FRAND terms, but they continue to appear regularly in courtrooms.

While Deutsche Telekom was willing to settle with IPCom on licensing, HTC, Nokia and Apple continue their legal battles and it can be expected that now in the case against Apple, the German patent troll will appeal and continue to drag out the whole case.

A week in a nutshell

The biggest topic of the past week was probably fundamental a security flaw that Apple discovered in its systems, and it took too long to release an update for Macs after iOS. Finally, but released a patch for OS X.

While Apple did not introduce a single new product in 2014, Samsung did not rest on its laurels and introduced quite a few new products - waterproof Samsung Galaxy S5 and Gear Fit bracelet. When will Apple respond, which hasn't yet for example, he is dealing with a new statue for his headquarters?

On the other hand, Apple has already become the world's most admired company for the seventh consecutive year, which does not help him in the case of e-books. Apple in it he asked for a new trial, or at least a reconsideration of the original judgment. The apple company also got involved in politics again - in Arizona he supported LGBT rights.
