In the declining laptop market, Apple surpassed 10% share (February 16)

According to the latest data, MacBooks are doing very well in global laptop sales. The Californian company took fourth place as its market share rose by one percentage point in 2015, overtaking rivals Acer and Asus. While the notebook market overall is in decline, MacBooks have improved to a 10,3 percent share. However, 2015 million laptops were sold in 164, 11 million more than the year before.

The first two places in last year's ranking in notebook market share are occupied by HP and Lenovo, both companies have a share of around 20 percent. Apple together with Acer and Asus have around 10 percent. In the case of Apple, however, it must be noted that its laptop portfolio consists of only three models and the cheapest of them starts at $899, which is incomparable to other computer manufacturers that offer dozens of different models at very low prices.

It is said that iPad sales could fall to the weakest quarter ever (February 17)

According to a Taiwanese daily DigiTimes iPad sales will drop to 9,8 million units sold this quarter. The Californian company has only seen smaller sales of an Apple tablet once, in the summer of 2011, around the time of the iPad 2. Although Apple's tablet market share will still be high (21 percent compared to Samsung's 14 percent), the aforementioned sales would mean almost A 40 percent drop from the last quarter and a 20 percent year-over-year drop.

However, overall tablet sales are also facing a 10 percent decline, probably due to high market saturation and insignificant improvements that do not motivate customers enough to buy new models. Last fall, instead of introducing a new version of the iPad Air, Apple came out with an all-new iPad Pro, and there is speculation that the iPad Air 3 will arrive as soon as next month - how much the Californian companies help with sales will depend mainly on their innovation.
