Two lenses in the new iPhones, Porsche without an autonomous vehicle, the acquisition of a security company and also a drop in sales in brick-and-mortar Apple Stores. That's what the past week was about...

Porsche boss: iPhone belongs in the pocket, not on the road (February 1)

Porsche is unlikely to add its own model to the ever-increasing tide of self-driving cars. A German newspaper asked the head of a luxury car company, Oliver Blum, about the new trend, to whom the idea that people will soon not drive cars at all seems absurd. He also took a jab at Apple during the interview, saying that "the iPhone belongs in the pocket, not on the road." Porsche plans to start selling a hybrid version of its classic 2018 by 911, but even that will have to be driven by a human. "When someone buys a Porsche, they want to drive it," said Blume.

Apple bought security company LegbaCore (February 2)

Apple bought LegbaCore, a firmware protection company, at the end of last year. Apple employed both of the company's founders, Xen Kovah and Corey Kallenberg, putting LegbaCore itself out of business. The company participated in research, the aim of which was to show that even for Apple computers there was a worm that could not be removed even by reinstalling the system. The Californian company was interested in the work of Kovah and Kallenberg, and although they do not own any specific technological patents, their experience will be valuable at Apple for the development of protection for apple products.

iPhone 7 could come without a protruding lens and plastic antennas on the back (February 2)

While the design of the previous iPhones was significantly changed every two years, the new iPhone 7, which we will most likely see introduced typically in September, could come with only minor modifications. Many users will certainly be pleased with a thinner camera, the lens of which will most likely not protrude from the back of the phone. When the iPhone 6 was introduced, the protruding lens was considered by many as an incomplete detail, which Apple had always been patient with until then.

According to unconfirmed reports, the iPhone 7 Plus could also get a dual lens, while the smaller version would have a classic lens. The second change should be the removal of the plastic strip of the antenna, at least one part of it. Apple should be able to get rid of the stripe that runs across the back of the phone, but some of the stripe on the edges of the phone will remain. It's also possible that Apple won't make the phone thinner this time around.

But at the same time, it can be just one of the prototypes that Apple is testing, and in the end they will come up with a completely different design in the fall.

US brick-and-mortar Apple Stories no longer earn as much (3/2)

According to GGP, which owns a large portion of department stores in the United States, sales of products at the Apple Store are on the decline. While until last year the Apple Story increased overall growth in sales by almost three percent, in 2015 overall growth in the technology sector slowed down.

Sales of stores smaller than 930 square meters rose 3%; but excluding Apple, they increased by 4,5%. The news of slower growth than other big companies in GGP's portfolio, such as Tesla, Victoria's Secret or Tiffany's, comes as the California-based company also expects iPhone sales to decline, the first in more than a decade.

Sony: Dual-lens cameras to start appearing next year (3/2)

When announcing the financial results, Sony mentioned its dual-lens technology, which is said to appear in the phones of the biggest technology companies this year. However, the high-end phone market is on the decline, so Sony expects the technology to see a significant take-off only in 2017. According to unconfirmed reports, Apple is planning to include the new technology, along with modifications from the Israeli company LinX, which belongs to Apple, in the iPhone 7 Plus to distinguish the larger version from the smaller one. The second lens could be used by the Californian company, for example, for optical zoom, which is still one of the biggest shortcomings of mobile cameras.
