Apple pokes fun at bloggers looking for references to future devices (12/12)

As soon as Apple releases a new (beta) version of its iOS operating system, developers immediately start digging into it and see if they can find any traces of new devices in the .plist files. Apple is obviously aware of this, so they took a shot at developers in the second beta of iOS 5.1. Those who looked into iOS 5.1 beta 2 found, among other things, a mention of Apple TV 9, iPad 8 and iPhone 10. The message from Apple is clear: don't trust .plist files in iOS.

Pod2g can be expected to release untethered jailbreak tools in the future.

Apple hires iOS concept creator Jan-Michael Carta (13/12)

Jan-Michael Cart is famous for his designs of various features for iOS or the iMessages app for Mac and mostly reaped success from users. However, not only they noticed his work, it was also registered by Apple, which has now taken Carta on board.

Carto is in his early twenties and hails from Georgia, studies media, and creates videos of his iOS concepts in which he invents new features for the mobile operating system. For example, he invented dynamic icons or the implementation of widgets. How many times would they not be ashamed of his ideas even in Cupertino and now it looks like they might actually use some of his ideas.

Coffee maker almost as if from Jony Ivo's workshop (13.)

Are you a coffee lover and a fan of great design? If yes, then be sure to sharpen up and enjoy the company's feat Scanomat, which introduced a revolutionary coffee machine. A coffee maker that seems to fall out of the eye of the design of Apple products. So we can only speculate with exaggeration if the chief designer Jony Ive himself participated in The Top Brewer.

Top Brewer is a simple automatic coffee machine that should completely change the way we perceive coffee machines. Most of Scanomat's coffee machine is hidden under the table top, so we don't see any cables or mechanisms, only an elegant metal tube peeks out. In addition, the Top Brewer communicates with the iPhone, so you can, for example, simply program the coffee you want ready when you get up in the morning, and when you come to the kitchen, you no longer have to wait for anything.

Forced reduction of iAds prices for advertisers (13/12)

Apple is not doing well in the advertising market. The reason is unfavorable conditions compared to the competition. If your ad is shown 1000x, you will pay Apple $10 and for each ad click an additional $2.

Another disadvantage is the minimum deposit. It was at exactly $1.000.000 when iAds was launched. After that, it was reduced to half and now even to 40% of the original amount, i.e. $400.000. The move saw Apple's mobile ad share of the US market drop 4% in terms of profit. And it will get worse. A new player - Facebook - should enter the market next year. According to provisional information, he should start his Sponsored Stories already in March.

Apple released an update for iPhone 4S and Apple TV (15/12)

The iPhone update is probably not what owners expected, it doesn't fix the battery problem, but it will please those who have problems with the SIM card, where the iPhone 4S rejects it or says it was not inserted. The update is still labeled 5.0.1, so this is a new revision of this version. The Apple TV 2 update basically didn't bring anything new either, version 4.4.4 only fixes some bugs in terms of stability and performance.

Selective thieves rob students only of iPhones, they are not interested in other platforms (16/12)

A pair of thieves are on the rampage in New York's Manhattan, focusing on robbing the students of the local Columbia school of their phones. However, they are not interested in just any phone, they are only looking for the iPhone. In the latest incident, thieves stepped on a group of students demanding their phones. When two of the students pulled out Blackberry and Motorola Droid Android devices, the thieves refused to take them.

"I think that speaks volumes for the price of second-hand iPhones," says one of the students. Another assaulted student even objected: "It's insulting that they don't want my Blackberry. On the other hand, owners of the most expensive phones need not worry, and those who own an iPhone should buy a second, fake phone of another brand, which thieves will then refuse to take.

With the new iOS 5.0.1 revision, porting Siri to other devices is legal (16/12)

Siri is the most interesting and essential innovation in the new iPhone 4S. Therefore, many users of the 4S's older brother, the iPhone 4, demanded that the assistant's voice be accessible on their devices as well. This was primarily due to various videos and articles showing that several hackers had already succeeded. At first, Apple rejected this possibility, most likely because it could have problems with the law. However, Apple worked on this problem and ported Siri in the iOS 5.0.1 update. This update offers access to files that were previously encrypted.

MuscleNerd, a leading figure in the hacking community, recently tweeted that the iOS 5.0.1 update decrypts the RAM disk, making it possible to obtain the necessary files to access Siri without violating Apple's copyright. He stated: "This is the first public iPhone 4S ipsw file where the main file directories can be obtained."

Before these files were made available, there were several ways to get Siri working on older devices, but they were all either illegal or impractical. For example, one method required access to a unique code from an iPhone 4S, but it had to be refreshed every 24 hours to avoid detection. As more devices started to connect like this, the code was noticed and was scrapped. Therefore, you could no longer start Siri. It is not yet clear why Apple made these files available, especially to hackers, when Siri was a novelty and the main attraction for the purchase of the new iPhone 4S. In addition, the release of iOS 5.1 is approaching, which may encrypt these files again. So either Apple made a mistake and didn't make the files available on purpose, or maybe there's an unknown move. Either way, however, Apple has made Siri available on older devices — at least for now.

In Brazil, you will pay almost 1850 dollars for an unsubsidized iPhone (16/12)

In the second half of November, we learned that the iPhone 4S will be manufactured in Brazil's Foxconn factories in addition to China. Brazilian apple fans now have even more reason to look forward to the first pieces, because the iPhone 4S imported from China will be very expensive. Specifically, it is 2 Brazilian reals for the 599GB version, 16 for 2GB, and 999 for 32GB. Converted to US dollars it is approx 3/399/64. Compared to the prices in the USA, they are more than double.

The reason is high taxes on electronics imports, so the arrival of "Brazilian iPhones" should significantly reduce prices. There are also significantly higher prices for older models, the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. The extreme prices of iOS smartphones also prevail in India, where they are priced at 865/990/1120 dollars, where they probably do not sell like hot cakes considering that 41,6 % of the population does not even earn $1,25 a day.

Developers Received New Build of OS X 10.7.3 to Test (17/12)

Testers (not yet developers) have received another build of OS X Lion 10.7.3 available to Apple. The third build, labeled 11D33, should fix issues with Address Book, iCal, Mail, Spotlight, and Safari. Apple doesn't mention any other problems, so it's possible that this is the last version before OS X 10.7.3 is officially released to the general public.
