The next generation of iPads could be available in gold, with the release of iOS 8.1 Apple Pay is likely to be launched, Apple is starting to prepare the production of the processor A9, and NFL players have to learn to listen to music in Bose headphones.

Apple to announce Q4 financial results on October 20 (30/9)

The fourth fiscal (third calendar) quarter ran through September 27, which means it includes initial sales of the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Ten million of these were sold in the first weekend, and according to Apple, this number would be even higher if they were able to produce and ship more new devices. At the same time, the published numbers will not include sales of the new iPhones in China, where they will go on sale on October 17. The release of financial results will traditionally be followed by a conference call.

Gold iPads in October, larger versions only next year (1/10)

iPad sales this year are six percent lower than that it was last year. One of the ways to attract new customers is a larger diagonal display, which has been speculated for some time, the second is to remember the success of the gold iPhone. While larger iPads will likely arrive next year (if at all), the gold color could already be seen on the next-generation iPad Air and iPad mini, which are expected to be introduced at the keynote on October 16.

Apple Pay could arrive on October 20 with iOS 8.1 (1/10)

Although new iPhones with NFC have been on sale for a few weeks, the new NFC chip, which can only be used for Apple Pay for now, is not functional. That should change with the arrival of iOS 8.1, expected on October 20.

The veracity of this information is indicated, in addition to allegedly reliable sources, by versions 8.1 1 beta, where Apple Pay was the new item in Settings. This should also become available for the iPad, which (at least for now) does not have NFC, so it would only be usable for shopping in online stores.

Apple expanded employee benefits (October 2)

Apparently, Apple is practicing a strategy where healthier and happier employees are one of the pillars of a good company—or it's simply trying to keep current ones and attract new ones.

Either way, it means expanding employee benefits. These include financial support for education, more generous matching of contributions to charity or the possibility for expectant mothers to take four weeks off before and two weeks after giving birth. The other parent can also take up to six weeks of parental leave.

A9 processors are to be manufactured by Samsung (October 2)

Samsung was the sole supplier of mobile processors to Apple from the launch of the first iPhone until the iPhone 5S. With the arrival of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus with the A8 processor, Samsung's share in their production has decreased considerably. Currently supplies roughly forty percent of processors. About the rest old rival Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company.

However, it is expected that Apple will not eliminate Samsung from production, at least until next year, when devices with a processor most likely called A9 will be introduced. While the A8 is manufactured using 20-nanometer technology, the A9 is expected to be reduced to 14 nanometers. Smaller processors have lower consumption even when increasing performance, which means better battery life (or its preservation in case of reduced capacity).

NFL signs deal with Bose. Players are no longer allowed to wear Beats headphones (4/10)

The main reason why Beats headphones have become so popular is their association with famous personalities - musicians, actors, athletes. Bose obviously wants to improve its position in the headphone market, as it has entered into an agreement with the NFL (National Football League), which means that players, coaches and other members of the implementation teams cannot be seen wearing headphones of a rival brand during telecasts.

Athletes will continue to be able to use Beats headphones and wear them around their necks, but they cannot be seen by the camera lens and cannot do so during the match period (before and 90 minutes after).

A week in a nutshell

In the past week, Apple no longer had to deal with problems such as bending of the iPhone 6 Plus, but there were still inconsistencies in iOS 8. They appeared two mistakes, one of which caused the accidental deletion of data from iCloud Drive, the other related to the new QuickType predictive typing feature that also learned the login credentials that were entered. Apple also got into dispute with the European Unions because of allegedly illegal tax treatment in Ireland.

The rest of the events are of a more positive nature. There have been reports that we will see it this month iMacs with Retina display, the public could for the first time (even if only behind glass) view Apple Watch and the sales start date has been announced new iPhones in China. He is a new Apple employee NFC expert from Visa, suggesting that the wait for Apple Pay in Europe won't be too long, temporary head of PR became Steve Dowling five months after Katie Cotton left.

As for the software, it appeared the first Golden Master version of OS X Yosemite and she came out too the first iOS 8.1 beta promising the return of the Camera folder and preparing iPads for the arrival of Touch ID.

The fifth of October 2014 is also the third anniversary of the death of Steve Jobs.
