Apple has expanded the lineup of the upcoming iTunes Festival (August 19)

After the first-ever iTunes Festival in the US, the music event organized by Apple after a year returns to London. Lucky ticket holders will soon be able to start looking forward to the new artists that Apple confirmed this week. Among them is, for example, Lenny Kravitz, Foxes or the group The Script. The largest Apple Store in the world could be built in Dubai (19.)

Apple last week posted job openings at a new store in the United Arab Emirates. The company is most likely planning to open its first Apple Store in the Middle East. According to the local newspaper EDGARDaily a new store is set to open in Dubai's Mall of the Emirates (pictured) and is set to be the largest Apple Store ever. Apple is reportedly considering placing a store on the site of the current multi-cinema, and according to the planning of job offers, it is possible that it could be opened as early as February 2015. Tim Cook visited the United Arab Emirates a few months ago this year and met with the local prime minister. The reason for his visit is still unknown, but most likely he discussed the company's growth opportunities in this region.

Eddy Cue Sells His Los Altos Home For Nearly $4 Million (19/8)

Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president for Internet software and services, is selling his four-room house in Los Altos, California, for $3,895 million, i.e. a little over 80 million crowns. The house, which was built in 2004, is located in a quiet neighborhood near the town of Mountain View, according to the real estate agency's description. The interior of the house consists of "beautiful wooden floors, a wooden ceiling above the spacious kitchen and abundant daylight". The spacious garden is enriched by a hot tub with a pool. Homes in the same neighborhood typically sell for around $3 million.

The second generation iPad Air could come with 2 GB of RAM (20/8)

The new iPad Air could come with 1GB of RAM instead of 2GB. The RAM update should only apply to the new iPad Air, the iPad mini with Retina display should retain the 1 GB memory that Apple has been equipping its tablets with since the third generation iPad. The larger operating memory will come in handy for the iPad Air especially after updating to iOS 8, and there is even talk that Apple plans to add multitasking to the system with an update in the coming months, which would enabled have two apps open on one screen at the same time.

Tim Cook visited a hospital in Palo Alto (August 21)

Tim Cook visited the Palo Alto War Veterans Hospital with Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo. According to a tweet by Cook himself, the president of Apple met with doctors and patients. The hospital has been using iPads to help treat veterans and their families since 2013, and its representatives praise the many positives the use of iPads has brought. Among them is said to be a shorter waiting time for any medical examination. Even the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Robert McDonald, appreciates iPads, calling the Apple tablet "a crown jewel in a complicated health care system." But Cook was not idle, and during the visit he also promoted the new iOS 8 system and its much-anticipated HealthKit feature.
