Microsoft is going to take inspiration from Apple and will also introduce an App Store in its new operating system, Windows 8. On the newly launched blog Building Windows 8 this was revealed by the head of Windows, Steven Sinofsky, saying that the "App Store" team has already been created. Although Sinofsky refused to specify what this group will be responsible for, Microsoft is clearly being inspired by Apple's successes.

iAd chief Andy Miller quits Apple (18/8)

Andy Miller, founder of Quattro Wireles, which Apple bought last year for $250 million, is leaving Cupertino. At Apple, Miller held the role of vice president of mobile advertising and was in charge of the iAd advertising system. According to speculation, Miller will become a general partner of Highland Capital, which financed Quattro, which he founded in 2006.

Apple is looking to find a replacement for him, but has not said why Miller is leaving. But it certainly won't help the iAd project. Apple didn't do very well with it and it doesn't bring the expected profits. However, if Miller quit because of iAd's failure, it wouldn't be that surprising.

Mozilla wants to compete with native applications (19/8)

Speaking and creating web and web application elements in HTML5 is very much in vogue lately. Mozilla does not want to be left behind either, whose creators have decided that they want to create a kind of ecosystem in the browser, especially for the mobile world, which will allow its user to use a large part of native and other applications without having to leave it. They were partly inspired by Google's Chrome OS, which is, of course, aimed at netbooks, while Mozilla will focus on smartphones and tablets. The biggest advantage of such an approach would be that web applications work across all systems that are capable of working with HTML5.

“We invite our community to work with our newly formed WebAPI team to fill the gap in APIs that exists today between the open web platform and native APIs. As with all add-ons we create for the web platform, the goal is to make them available in all browsers. We believe that web developers should have a platform that is consistent and they can rely on for their development.”

WebOS is twice as fast on the iPad as on the HP TouchPad (19/8)

HP engineers have revealed a shocking fact regarding the mobile operating system that HP acquired through the acquisition of Palm. They managed to upload WebOS to the iPad 2 and discovered that the system for which the HP TouchPad was directly produced runs twice as fast on the Apple tablet. This certainly shook the morale of the entire WebOS team, after all, even those before the release of the TouchPad were not twice as enthusiastic about the device and would have preferred it if it had not been released at all.

After all, the fate of the TouchPad was not rosy either, and after attempts to sell it to the masses thanks to a significant price reduction, they wrote it off completely, just like other devices with this operating system. The TouchPad now retails for $100-150 depending on the version of the device. In addition to the difference in running WebOS, the TouchPad only has a single-core processor, while the iPad 2 has a dual-core Apple A5 processor. However, it is remarkable what performance the iPad abounds even in the case of an alternative operating system. How would you cope with Android?
