VirnetX may not get $625 million from Apple after all (1/8)

A New Jersey district judge, based on Apple's request, ruled that the court's decision in the case of the California company and the patent company VirnetX from last year was invalid, because the judges relied too much on the decision in the already previous disputes between the two companies. So Apple does not have to pay a fine of 625 million dollars yet. The case will be resolved in a new trial, which should begin at the end of September.

VirnetX sued Apple for misappropriation of its Internet security patents. The patents in question are used by Apple, for example, in its FaceTime and iMessage services.

Apple's big investment in Didi Chuxing prompts Uber China to sell (4/8)

The surprising news came last week from China, where Uber decided to leave the market, as its results could not be compared with the Didi Chuxing service there. Apple also noticed the success of Didi Chuxing and invested $1 billion in the company, which, according to the latest information, led to Uber's decision to sell its stake. Didi Chuxing is now valued at around $28 billion, making it the third most valuable startup in the world.

Uber and Apple are partners in the US market, but so far only at the service level, where Uber drivers can, for example, be paid with Apple Pay if they own an iPhone. However, their common interest in Didi could be a gateway to greater cooperation.

Apple will pay up to 200 dollars to those who reveal errors in its devices (4/8)

Apple is joining companies like Uber and Fiat in launching a program that will pay programmers and hackers if they find bugs in the Californian company's products. The program will be launched in September, and it is most likely a response to the recent incident with the FBI, when the US government was able to get into the iPhone of terrorists from San Bernardino based on a bug found in the system by hackers.

Larger companies such as Google and Facebook have been paying hackers for similar services for several years, with Google spending over $2 million on these expenses last year. But Apple's program will be a bit more organized - the Californian company will not just pay someone and will look for the people it wants to accept into its program.
