Your favorite roundup of the week from the world of Apple with the number 22 is here.

PhotoFast Launches Flash Drive for iPhone/iPad (5/6)

Uploading files to an iPhone or iPad has always been a bit of a hassle and many have been clamoring for features like USB Host or Mass Storage. PhotoFast therefore came up with an interesting solution in the form of a special flash drive. It has a classic USB 2.0 on one side, and a 30-pin dock connector on the other. The transfer of data to the iDevice then takes place through an application offered by the company for free.

Thanks to this flash drive, you will no longer need a cable and installed iTunes to transfer any media. The flash drive is offered in capacities from 4GB to 32GB and ranges in price from $95 to $180 depending on the capacity. You can find the manufacturer's website where you can order the device <a href="https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1932/8043/files/200721_ODSTOUPENI_BEZ_UDANI_DUVODU__EN.pdf?v=1595428404" data-gt-href-en="https://en.notsofunnyany.com/">here</a>.

The Swedes have iPhone-controlled Pong on the billboard (5/6)

An interesting advertising campaign was prepared by the Swedish McDonald's. On a giant digital billboard, he allowed passers-by to play one of the most classic games ever – Pong. This game is controlled directly from the iPhone through Safari, where the screen turns into a touch vertical control on a special page. People on the street can then compete with each other for some free food, which they can pick up at a nearby McDonald's branch thanks to the received code.

Find My Mac will work the same as Find My iPhone on iOS (7/6)

In the first developer versions of the new OS X Lion, there were references to the Find My Mac service, which copies Find My iPhone from iOS and can remotely lock or completely wipe the entire device. This is especially useful for theft. More details emerged in the fourth Lion Developer Preview released earlier this week, and Find My Mac will indeed work just like its iOS sibling. It is not yet clear how and from where the service will be controlled, but it is likely that Find My Mac will be part of iCloud. It is therefore a question of whether it will come with the launch of OS X Lion in July, or only in the fall together with iOS 5 and the launch of iCloud.

Remotely, we will now be able to send a message to our stolen Mac, lock it or delete its contents. It will be easy to set up and that's why Apple has allowed guest users to use Safari so that the IP address can be detected and you can connect to it.

Apple Will Build a New Campus in Cupertino (8/6)

The ever-growing Apple is slowly no longer enough for its own capacity of the current campus in Cupertino, and many of its employees have to be placed in adjacent buildings. Some time ago, Apple bought land in Cupertino from HP and intends to build its new campus there. But it wouldn't be Apple not to build something unusual, so the new building will be ring-shaped, giving it a strong resemblance to a kind of alien mothership, which is why it's already been nicknamed Mothership.

Steve Jobs himself presented the construction plans at the Cupertino City Hall. The building should accommodate over 12 employees, while the surrounding area of the building, which currently consists mainly of concrete parking lots, will be transformed into a beautiful park. You won't find a single straight piece of glass on the building itself, and part of the building is a cafe where employees can spend their free time. You can watch Jobs' entire presentation in the attached video.

OnLive will have a client for iPad (8/6)

OnLive announced at the E3 gaming conference that it plans to launch clients for iPad and Android in the fall. OnLive allows you to play all kinds of game titles that are streamed from remote servers, so you don't even need a powerful computer, just a good internet connection.

“OnLive is pleased to announce the OnLive Player App for iPad and Android. Just like the consoles just shown, the OnLive Player App will also allow you to play all available OnLive games on an iPad or Android tablet, which can be controlled either by touch or with the new universal wireless OnLive controller."

The app will be available overseas as well as in Europe, and it looks like it will work great on iOS 5, which supports AirPlay mirroring, allowing you to stream the game from your iPad to your TV.

Apple registers 50 new domains related to products announced at WWDC (9/6)

Apple introduced several new services at Monday's WWDC keynote, then immediately registered 50 new Internet domains related to them. Although nothing new can be read from them, all the services are already known to us, but it is interesting to see how Apple provides all the links to its products. In addition to the domains mentioned below, the Californian company also acquired the icloud.com address from Sweden's Xcerion, and apparently icloud.org, although it still refers to Xcerion's renamed CloudMe service.

First generation iPad may lack some features from iOS 5 (9/6)

Owners of the older iPhone 3GS and the first iPad could rejoice at the announcement of iOS 5, because Apple decided not to cut them off and the new mobile operating system will also be available for their devices. However, iPhone 3GS and iPad 1 may not have all features.

We know from the first iOS 5 beta that the iPhone 3GS doesn't support new camera features like quick photo editing, and maybe the first generation iPad won't be unscathed either. Developers report that iPads running the first beta of the new system do not support the new gestures.

New four- and five-finger gestures allow you to quickly display the multitasking panel, return to the home screen or switch between applications. These gestures were already featured in iOS 4.3 betas, but ultimately did not make it to the final version. This was supposed to change in iOS 5, and so far the gestures work on the iPad 2 as well. But not on the first iPad, which is strange because in iOS 4.3 betas this feature worked fine on the first generation Apple tablet. So the question is whether this is just a bug in the iOS 5 beta, or whether Apple removed gesture support for the iPad 1 on purpose.

Apple changed subscription rules (9/6)

When Apple introduced the form of subscription for electronic newspapers and magazines, it also included relatively strict conditions, which appeared to be very disadvantageous for some publishers. Publishers had to offer the option of a subscription outside the App Store payment system at a price equal to or lower than that set in the App Store. In order not to lose valuable media partners, Apple preferred to cancel the criticized restrictions. In the App Store Guidelines, the entire controversial paragraph regarding subscriptions outside the App Store has disappeared, and e-magazine publishers can breathe a sigh of relief and avoid Apple's 30% tithe.

iOS 5 patched hole allowing untethered jailbreak (10/6)

Unpleasant news has appeared for owners of jailbroken phones. Although the news that the first iOS 5 beta was successfully jailbroken just hours after its release brought great joy to the jailbreak community, it died down after a few days. One of the developers of the Dev Team who works on the phone unlocking tools has stated on his Twitter that in iOS 5 a hole known as ndrv_setspec() integeroverflow, which enabled an untethered jailbreak, i.e. one that lasts even after the device is restarted and does not require activation every time.

Although a tethered version is already available, users who can't do without a jailbreak will be quite at a loss. Even though the new version of the system has added a lot of features that made many look for a jailbreak, they still won't have the same freedom with their iDevice as the various apps and tweaks from Cydia. We can only hope that hackers will find another way to enable untethered jailbreak.

iTunes Cloud in England in 2012 (10/6)

The Performing Right Society (PRS), which represents musicians, songwriters and music publishers in the UK, has said that music licensing deals will not allow iTunes Cloud and the spin-off service iTunes Match to launch before 2012. A PRS spokesman was quoted in The Telegraph as saying that the current negotiations with Apple were at a very early stage and both parties are still far from signing any agreement.

The director of a major English music label said that no one expects these services to be up and running by 2012.

The vice president of Forrester Research literally told The Telegraph: "All major UK labels are taking their time and waiting for US sales to develop before signing a deal".

Waiting for iTunes Cloud will be similar in other countries as well. For example, from October 2003, when the iTunes Music Store was launched in the US, it took another 8 months for this music store to expand to other countries such as France, England and Germany. Other European countries did not even join until October 2004. For the Czech customer, this again means that we will also be denied the iTunes Cloud service. There is still no basic iTunes Music Store, let alone this add-on.

OS X Lion can only run in browser mode (10/6)

We already knew most of the new features in the new OS X Lion operating system, and we repeated them at Monday's keynote at WWDC. However, Apple immediately provided developers with Lion Developer Preview 4, in which another new function appeared - Restart to Safari. The computer will now be able to start in browser mode, which means that when it restarts, only the web browser will start and nothing else. For example, this will solve the problem for unauthorized users to simply access the website on other computers without accessing private folders.

A "Restart to Safari" option will be added to the login window where users normally log in to their accounts. This browser mode may resemble Google's rival Chrome OS, which offers a cloud-based operating system.

Lack of Mac Pros and Minis suggests an early update (11/6)

Mac Pro and Mac mini stocks are slowly starting to thin in the App Stores. This usually indicates nothing more than an upcoming product update. In February, we received new MacBook Pros and in May, iMacs. According to previous estimates, it is an adequate time to update the most powerful and smallest Macs. We should expect that within a month. Along with the Macy Pro and Macy mini, new MacBook Airs and a white MacBook are also expected, which has been waiting a record long time for its new version.

It is thus possible that Apple will introduce these products together with the new OS X Lion operating system. We can expect a processor from Intel's Sandy Bridge series and also a Thunderbolt interface from them. Other specifications are only speculative and we will not know the complete parameters until D-day.
