Big stock purchases, expansion of Apple stores to India, as well as a visit from Apple's top executives, increased security measures in China, as well as information about the upcoming iPhone news...

Warren Buffett bought $1 billion worth of Apple stock (16/5)

Warren Buffet, an important figure in the world of stock markets, took advantage of the low value of Apple shares and surprisingly decided to buy a stake worth 1,07 billion dollars. Buffett's decision is all the more interesting considering that his holding company, Berkshire Hathaway, does not typically invest in technology companies. However, Buffett is a long-time supporter of Apple and has advised Cook several times about buying back shares from investors to increase the company's value.

Apple stock has been going through a rough patch in recent weeks. Two of the company's biggest investors, David Tepper and Carl Icahn, sold their shares based on concerns about the company's development in China. In addition, the value of Apple shares last week fell to the lowest value in the last two years.

Apple to open its first store in India in the next year and a half (16/5)

After the long-awaited permission from the Indian government, Apple can finally begin its expansion into the Indian market and open its first Apple Store in the country. Apple Stories will most likely be located in the most luxurious parts of the city, and Apple plans to spend up to $5 million on each of them.

The Indian government's decision is an exception to one that requires foreign firms selling their products in India to source at least 30 percent of their products from domestic suppliers. Additionally, Apple plans to open a $25 million research center in Hyderabad, India.

The Chinese have begun conducting security checks on products, including those from Apple (17/5)

The Chinese government is starting to inspect products that are imported into the country from foreign companies. The inspections themselves, which even Apple devices must undergo, are carried out by a government military organization and focus mainly on encryption and data storage. Often, representatives of companies must also participate in the inspection itself, which happened to Apple itself, from which the Chinese government demanded access to the source code. In the last year, China has been increasing restrictions on foreign companies, and the import of products itself is the result of long negotiations between company representatives and the Chinese government.

Tim Cook and Lisa Jackson toured India (19/5)

Tim Cook and Lisa Jackson, Apple's vice president for the environment, visited India for a five-day trip. After visiting several landmarks in Mumbai, Jackson checked out a school that uses iPads to teach Indian women how to assemble solar panels. Meanwhile, Cook attended his first cricket game where he discussed the use of iPads in sports alongside Rajiv Shukla, president of the Indian Cricket League, and also mentioned that India is a great market. Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan also invited Cook to his house for dinner, shortly after the Apple executive checked out the film sets of the latest Bollywood blockbusters.

Cook ended his trip on Saturday with a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Their conversation likely brought up Apple's newly announced development center in Hyderabad or the Indian government's recent permission to build the country's first Apple Story.

It is said that the iPhone will get a glass design next year (May 19)

According to the latest information from Apple suppliers, only one of the iPhone models will be gifted with the speculated glass design next year. Contrary to previous information that claimed that glass will cover the entire surface of the phone, it now looks like the iPhone will retain metal edges, following the pattern of the iPhone 4. If only one model got the glass design, it would most likely be the more expensive version of the iPhone, i.e. the iPhone Plus. In that case, however, it is not certain what the design of the smaller iPhone would look like.
