iStat is a well-known and popular widget for the MacOS operating system, which is used to monitor the entire system - from displaying the free space on the hard disk, through the use of system resources, displaying running processes, CPU usage, hardware temperature, fan speed, to displaying the health of your laptop battery. In short, this widget monitors what can be monitored.

But now he appeared iStat also as an iPhone application, when it can display these statistics even on the iPhone. To monitor the system "remotely", you just need to install iStat Server on your Mac, and then nothing prevents you from monitoring your computer in this iPhone application.

But of course that's not all. The iStat application for iPhone also monitors the status and use of your iPhone. It can monitor RAM memory usage, display the free space on the phone or possibly display the IP addresses that the iPhone uses. In addition, it also displays the average time the iPhone lasts in operation or its average use. A rather interesting function is i option to free up phone memory (Free Memory) when processes that are not necessary for the phone to run are closed. You will use this when some programs recommend restarting the phone before starting - now it will no longer be necessary.

I would not recommend doing the Free Memory function while you are playing music, because in my opinion there is a possibility that the phone will freeze. I also found this function in the application Memory Status for iPhone and she also suffered from this bug. Memory Status application moreover, she could also monitor running processes, but I felt it was a useless feature because this app didn't show how much resources each app was using.

Another interesting feature is the option ping servers (just enter the server and the number of pings) or via traceroute monitor the Internet connection route. I won't go into further detail here on what it is for. If you don't know them, believe me you don't need them to live.

iStat is certainly an interesting and very well-made program for any Mac owner who likes to monitor the usage of his computer. Above all, if you monitor multiple Macs in this way, the possibility of remote monitoring is certainly welcome. But if you only own an iPhone and you don't appreciate the option of ping or traceroute, then I think so useless to invest $1.99 to the application, which serves rather only to free up the phone's memory - everything else can be found on the phone even without iStat.
