The special edition of iPods, which was in the spirit of the world-famous music band U2 and was proud of their colors and the signatures of the members, was already here. They could also have iPods with the HP logo engraved on the back proudly used by supporters of the technology company Hewlett-Packard, through which Apple also sold iPods at one time. However, many may not have known that the popular (only at that time, because the seventh volume was released two years later) six-volume saga about the young wizard Harry Potter also received a similar special edition.

For this unique collector's edition pointed out na 512 Pixels Stephen Hackett saying he had "completely forgotten about this gem". And he certainly wasn't the only one. The Harry Potter saga-style iPod was officially released in 2005 as the 4th generation iPod with a color display, in honor of the arrival of audiobooks about a young wizard from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to iTunes.

While there's basically nothing to be found online about this collector's edition, Apple still has it on its website official press release:

"We are honored that JK Rowling has chosen iTunes to debut her Harry Potter audiobooks," said Steve Jobs, Apple's chief executive. "We are delighted to bring this tremendous and world-renowned story to our users on the iTunes Music Store," he added.

The entire set is practically the equivalent of 100 CDs, but users can purchase the entire audiobook collection with just a click and transfer the entire adventure to their iPod, where they can enjoy it anytime, anywhere.

Until now, the entire saga was available as audiobooks only on CDs and cassettes.

The back of the iPod, which had a capacity of 20 GB, was engraved with the Hogwarts logo. The device could only be purchased together with audiobooks for a total of $548 (at that time over 10 crowns), but the stories of Harry and his friends were not immediately available. Users first had to download it and then sync their devices to fully enjoy this exceptional saga.

This exclusive product is now a rarity. It's not at all easy to find quality photos of this iPod, let alone buy one. There is practically no written mention on the Internet, only pages stored in the Wayback Machine can reveal a little. However, a search of various auctions is in order, and if you are lucky, Harry Potter lovers can own this gem, but the price tag will certainly not be low.

If you would like to at least see it with your own eyes, one collector's piece is likely to be located in the Polish iPod Museum.
