The Far Out event, scheduled for September 7th, is fast approaching. Apart from the functions that the iPhone 14 will bring, prices are also discussed a lot. Does it even make sense to hope that Apple will put the same price tag on the new generation of its phones as last year? Unfortunately not.

Maybe it will just be a slight evolution, maybe upgrades forced by time, but the iPhone 14 Pro should lose its notch and replace it with punch-holes, the 12MPx wide-angle camera should replace the 48MPx, and a completely new model is coming, so instead of the iPhone 14 mini, an iPhone could be introduced 14 Max. Of course, everything also costs something, and a discount is just wishful thinking.

The entire supply chain drives up prices, and since Apple is strong in its lineup, it doesn't really need to discount (although it showed us that with the iPhone 11, which was $50 cheaper than the iPhone XR). In order to maintain his margin, because money is the most important thing for him (unfortunately for the customer), he will simply raise the price proportionally. So the question is not if, but by how much. We have seen it, for example, with the competition presented by Samsung.

He presented his new puzzles at the beginning of August, and their alleged prices were leaked long before that. They were even lower than the previous generation, which actually made sense because the company wanted to make them more affordable. But then it all went downhill. Under the pressure of the increased prices of the supply chain, he too eventually had to raise the price, even though it was only CZK 500 higher in our region.

How much more expensive will the iPhone 14 be?

Analyst Dan Ives of Wedbush Securities estimates price increase of around 100 dollars, i.e. approx. 2 CZK. Apple did not make any drastic price adjustments between the iPhone 500 and 12 generations, which also resulted from minor intergenerational improvements. But this is the more moderate estimate, because on the contrary Ming-Chi Kuo mentions a general price increase of 15%, which would increase the price of the basic iPhone 14 by a rather high CZK 3.

However, it is certain that this year will be a little different precisely with regard to the new iPhone 14 Max model, which will have to be integrated above the iPhone 14, but probably again below the iPhone 14 Pro. At least here, we will clearly lose the magic threshold of 20 CZK, because we will say goodbye to the mini model, and if nothing else, the basic iPhone 23 model will start at 14. This means that the entire iPhone 14 series will clearly be the most expensive in history. However, Apple may or may not move with basic storage, which would at least somewhat compensate for the price increase. But is it necessary to start with 256 GB? Probably not.

It is possible to think that, considering inflation and the current economic crisis, the new iPhones will be significantly more expensive. On the other hand, competition also plays a role here, and Apple can't bounce back too much from Samsung phones or Google Pixels, because customers might simply opt for them instead. Apple isn't the biggest player and its portfolio is quite limited, so again it can't do what it wants.
