More and more people are starting to buy used iPhones and iPads. There is nothing wrong with that, of course, but there are some pitfalls that can occur when buying used goods. When buying an iOS device, one of these pitfalls is a non-functioning display. Therefore, if you decide to buy a device second-hand or bazaar, it is advisable that you check whether the display works 100%. Of course, you won't find out if a new or refurbished display is installed in the body of the device, but at least you will find out if touch works across the entire surface of the device. If you are going to buy a used iPhone, definitely read this article, where we look at how to detect the functionality or non-functionality of the display. At the same time, when buying, check whether the display has yellowish or bluish colors and whether the colors of the display are faded.

How to test the display when buying a second-hand iPhone or iPad

Unfortunately, there is currently no tool in iOS to help us test the functionality of the display, so we will have to use a third-party application.

  • You can use it from the App Store this link to download the application Phone Diagnostics
  • After downloading and installing it we will open
  • A simple application will appear with several options to test the entire device - we are mainly interested Digitizer and Multi touch
  • We click on Digitizer and using your finger we swipe across the entire display, to connect all the boxes (we have 1 minute)
  • When finished, the application switches back to the menu
  • We click on Multi touch and after loading, we click on the display with three fingers - if multi touch works, the places where we touched with our fingers will appear
  • When finished, the application switches back to the menu

If the Digitizer and Multi touch systems are functional, a green background will be displayed for each option. If something is not working, the box will turn red

If you are going to buy a device from the bazaar in the future, then this article is the right nut for you. In Phone Diagnostics, apart from the display test, you can also perform tests on other device components such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Touch ID, buttons and more. In the end, I have nothing left but to wish you that the sellers do not rush in and take home a 100% functional device.
