Since last Friday, those interested in the countries of the first wave can pre-order the new iPhone XS and XS Max with the fact that the phone will be available tomorrow. So that means first impressions and reviews have started appearing on the site over the past two days. We will have to wait for a full picture of the novelty some day, but from the first reports it is clear that in some respects the novelty is much further than its predecessor.

The SpeedSmart service, which focuses on testing the connection speed of (not only) mobile devices, has today published the results of testing the new iPhone XS and XS Max. Testing took place on three networks of the largest US operators, and the results are somewhat surprising, especially compared to last year's models.

Testing has shown that the new iPhones achieve more than twice the transfer speeds over LTE (compared to the iPhone X). In the image below, you can see a detailed graph showing download and upload speeds for AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. In some cases, the iPhone XS exceeded 70 Mbps download and reached almost 20 Mbps upload.

If we search for the source behind this acceleration, we will find that Apple managed to incorporate a modem supporting MIMO 4×4 technology into the new iPhones, as opposed to MIMO 2×2 found in older iPhones (and also in the upcoming iPhone XR). In addition, the new iPhones have support for other technologies (QAM, LAA) that make similar data transfer rates possible. If, for example, you are still deciding which new product to choose this year, the above information can be one of the factors you can consider in your choice.
