On the server DxOMark, which thoroughly tests and compares cameras and individual smartphones, a review of the new iPhones appeared yesterday. As expected, the new iPhone XS (Max) crossed the 100-point mark on the scoring scale and jumped up a few notches. However, it is still not enough for the very top.

If we look directly at which smartphones are in the TOP 10, the first place is taken by the Huawei P20 Pro with its three cameras and a total of 109 points. In second place is the iPhone XS/XS Max, which received 105 points for its photographic capabilities. HTC U12+, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Huawei P20 and others follow with a distance of two or more points. You can view the entire ranking in the gallery below.

If we dig right into the detailed review, the best marks for Apple's new product were for its excellent video recording capabilities, as well as its excellent work with light, whether in overexposed conditions or, on the contrary, in moments when there is not enough residual light. The test praises the huge dynamic range (both for photos and video), very vivid and accurate color reproduction and excellent level and sharpness of details. The whole system is aided by good optical stabilization, which makes it possible to shoot shots that were previously difficult to do on the iPhone XS.

What the reviewers didn't like too much, or they identified the performance and quality of the optical zoom (2x) as an area that could be improved. Even though there was a slight improvement compared to last year's model, competing flagships are further in this regard, both in terms of the quality of the resulting image, as well as the presentation of colors and some details (the author directly complained about the occasional appearance of noise in images taken in this mode). As for the results in the individual categories, the iPhone XS scored 110 points in the field of photography, and 96 in the field of video. The combined score is therefore 105 points and the provisional second place on the list of the best photomobiles today.
