Apple last Friday lowered pre-orders for this year's latest novelty in the field of phones - after more than a month of waiting since the introduction, the iPhone XR, i.e. a cheaper and slightly less well-equipped iPhone, went on sale. We're through the first 72 hours of sales and the news is (with a few exceptions) still available as of October 26th. Does this mean there's less demand for the iPhone XR, or does Apple just have enough inventory?

If we look at the official Czech Apple store, all color and memory variants of the iPhone XR are still available as of October 26. In other words, if you order them today, they will arrive on Friday. The exception is the 64 and 128 GB variants in black, for which delivery is delayed by one to two weeks. These are probably the most popular configurations, as their extended waiting times are similar in other markets.

iPhone XR availability

If we compare this situation with the iPhone XS or the original iPhone X, in their cases the waiting times have already been increasing for several hours since the launch of pre-orders. During the first day, the waiting time for the iPhone X increased by six weeks, in the case of the iPhone XS by five weeks (depending on the type of configuration chosen).

So it might seem that there is not too much interest in the latest news. However, it is also possible that Apple simply prepared better for the onslaught of customers. The cheapest new iPhone does not have components that would limit production capacity, and Apple probably has enough of them to cover the initial wave of interest. However, most foreign analysts also expect the iPhone XR to sell very well, especially due to the more attractive price compared to the XS and XS Max models.
