In recent days, there has been a lot of talk about the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, as it is these models that are getting into the hands of the first owners. However, a significant number of fans are waiting for the real highlight of this year, which will certainly be the launch of sales of the iPhone X. The iPhone X is the main flagship, which took a significant part of the interest in the other two presented models. It will be packed with great technology, but at the same time it won't be cheap. And as it seems in the last few days, it will be even more complicated with availability.

Currently, the status is such that we should see pre-orders on October 27th, and the hot sale will begin on November 3rd. However, foreign websites report that a battle will break out over the iPhone X. The production of this phone is accompanied by one complication after another. Apart from the design of the phone itself, which dragged on until the summer, the first problem was the availability of OLED panels, which are manufactured by Samsung for Apple. The production was complicated due to the upper cutout and the technologies used, the yield was low. At the end of the summer, information appeared that only 60% of the manufactured panels would pass quality control.

Problems with the production of displays could be one of the reasons why Apple moved the release of the new flagship from the classic September date to the unusual November one. Apparently, displays aren't the only issue holding back iPhone production. It is supposed to be even worse with the production of 3D sensors for Face ID. The manufacturers of these components are said to still not be able to achieve the required level of production and the whole process is thus significantly slowed down. From the beginning of September, they managed to produce only a few tens of thousands of iPhone X per day, which is really a very low number. Since then, the production rate has been slowly accelerating, but it is still far from ideal. And that means there will be availability issues.

Reliable foreign sources say that it is very real that Apple will not have time to satisfy all pre-orders by the end of this year. If that happens, the situation that happened last year with AirPods will be repeated. It is expected that 40-50 million iPhone X will be produced by the end of the year. Production should start, at the required level, sometime during October. 27. so it will be very interesting to see how quickly the availability of the iPhone X will be extended. The fastest ones probably won't have a problem. This is a very unpleasant situation for those who want to see the new flagship first, for example at some Apple Premium Reseller. With each passing day since the start of orders, the availability will only get worse and worse. The situation should normalize only during the first half of next year.
