iPhone not charging is a term that is searched relatively often among apple phone users. And it's no wonder - if you can't charge your iPhone, it's an extremely frustrating and annoying situation that needs to be resolved as soon as possible. Of course, on the Internet you will find countless different procedures to solve this problem, but many of them are rather misleading and try to lure you into downloading some paid program that will not help you anyway. So let's take a look together in this article at 5 tips you should try if your iPhone can't charge. You will find all the necessary procedures here.

Restart your iPhone

Before jumping into any more complicated charging repair procedures, restart your iPhone first. Yes, some of you are probably shaking your head right now, as performing a reboot is included in virtually all such manuals. However, it is necessary to mention that in many cases a restart can really help (and in many cases it doesn't). By restarting, all systems will be turned on again and possible errors that may cause malfunctioning charging will be deleted. So you definitely don't pay anything for the exam. But reboot by going to Settings → General → Turn Off, where subsequently swipe the slider. Then wait a few tens of seconds, and then turn on the iPhone again and test the charging.

Use MFi accessories

If you have performed a restart that did not help, then the next step is to check the charging accessories. The first thing you can try is to use a different cable and adapter. If swapping helps, try combining cables and adapters to easily find out which part has stopped working. If you want to guarantee 100% functionality of the cable and adapter for charging the iPhone, it is important to purchase accessories with MFi (Made For iPhone) certification. Such accessories are a bit more expensive compared to ordinary ones, but on the other hand, you have a guarantee of quality and the certainty that the charging will work. Affordable charging accessories with MFi are offered, for example, by the brand AlzaPower, which I can recommend from my own experience.

Check the outlet or extension cord

If you've checked the charging accessories, and even tried charging the iPhone with several different cables and adapters, nothing is lost. There could still be some fault in the electrical network that is causing your charging to stop working now. In that case, take any other functional device that needs electricity to operate and try plugging it into the same outlet. If charging another device works, then the problem is somewhere between the adapter and the iPhone, if it does not start, then either the socket or the extension cable may be faulty. At the same time, you can also try to check the fuses, whether they have accidentally been "blown", which would be the reason for non-functional charging.

Clean the Lightning connector

In my life, I have already met countless users who have come to me complaining about their iPhone charging not working. In most cases, they wanted me to replace the charging connector, but it must be emphasized that so far this action has not happened once - each time it was enough to thoroughly clean the Lightning connector. When using your Apple phone, dust and other debris can get into the Lightning connector. By constantly pulling out and reinserting the cable, all dirt settles on the back wall of the connector. As soon as a lot of dirt accumulates here, the cable in the connector loses contact and the iPhone stops charging. This is prevented, for example, by the fact that charging only takes place in a certain position, or that the end of the cable cannot be completely inserted into the connector and part remains outside. You can clean the Lightning connector with a toothpick, for example, but you can find the complete procedure in the article I am attaching below. Just try shining a light into the Lightning connector and I bet if you don't clean it regularly, there will be a bunch of dirt in it that needs to come out.

Hardware error

If you've done all the steps above and your iPhone still isn't charging, it's most likely a hardware failure. Of course, no technology is immortal and indestructible yet, so the charging connector can certainly be damaged. In any case, this is an exceptional situation. Of course, before tackling the repair, be sure to check if your iPhone is still under warranty - in that case, the repair would be free of charge. Otherwise, find a service center and have the device repaired. Either the Lightning connector is to blame, or there could be some damage to the charging chip on the motherboard. Of course, an experienced technician will recognize the problem within minutes.
