This year is slowly coming to an end, and analysts are starting to look at what news from Apple awaits us next year. In addition to information about the upcoming iPhone SE 2, which is scheduled to premiere in the spring, we also learn more detailed specifications about the iPhone 12.

Analysts from the financial company Barclays, who have proven to be a very reliable source of information in the past, recently visited several Asian suppliers of Apple and found out more details about the upcoming iPhones.

According to sources, Apple should equip its upcoming iPhones with operating memory with a higher capacity. Specifically, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will get 6GB of RAM, while the base iPhone 12 will keep 4GB of RAM.

For comparison, all three of this year's iPhone 11s have 4 GB of RAM, which means that the "Pro" version will improve by a full 2 gigabytes next year. Apple will probably do so because of a more demanding camera, as both higher models should be equipped with a sensor for mapping the space in 3D. Already in connection with this year's iPhones, it was speculated that they have an additional 2 GB of RAM reserved specifically for the camera, but even a detailed analysis of the phones did not confirm this information.

Another important piece of information is that the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max should support millimeter wave (mmWave) technology. In practice, this means that they would be able to communicate at frequencies of up to tens of GHz and thus take advantage of the main advantages of 5G networks – very high transmission speeds. It seems that Apple wants to implement 5G support in its phones in the highest possible quality, but only in the more expensive models - the basic iPhone 12 should support 5G networks, but not millimeter wave technology.

iPhone SE 2 will be introduced in March

Analysts from Barclays also confirmed some information about the upcoming successors to the iPhone SE. Production of this model should begin in February, which confirms that it will be revealed at the spring keynote in March.

It is once again confirmed that the new affordable iPhone will be based on the iPhone 8, but with the difference that it will offer a faster A13 Bionic processor and 3 GB of RAM. Touch ID and the 4,7-inch display will remain on the phone.
