In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

Foxconn plans to build a factory for MacBooks and iPads

The production of the vast majority of Apple products takes place in China, which is covered by Apple's main partner, Foxconn. In recent years, the latter has been trying to move production to other countries as well, thanks to which the dependence on Chinese labor is decreasing. In this direction, we could already hear about Vietnam in the past. According to the agency's latest news Reuters the Taiwanese company Foxconn received a license for the construction of a new factory worth 270 million dollars, roughly 5,8 billion crowns.

The factory is expected to be located in the northern Vietnamese province of Bac Giang, and its construction will likely be handled by the well-known company Fukang Technology. Once completed, this hall should be able to produce around eight million laptops and tablets per year. Hence, it can be expected that MacBooks and iPads will be assembled at this location. Foxconn has so far invested $1,5 billion in Vietnam, and it wants to increase this number by another $700 million over the coming years. In addition, 10 jobs should be created this year.

A return to "eSku" or is the iPhone 12S waiting for us?

Although the last generation of iPhones was introduced only last October, speculation is already beginning about its successor this year. The iPhone 12 phones brought with them a number of great innovations, when they changed their design by returning to the sharp edges that we can remember from, for example, the iPhone 4 and 5, they offered a significantly improved photo system, higher performance, support for 5G networks, and cheaper models received an OLED display. This year's upcoming phones are currently being referred to as the iPhone 13. But is this naming correct?

Introducing the iPhone 12 (mini):

In the past, it was customary for Apple to release so-called "eSk" models, which carried the same design as their predecessors, but were a step ahead in performance and features. However, in the case of the iPhone 7 and 8, we did not get these versions and their return only came with the XS model. Since then, there seems to have been a silence, until now probably almost no one expected their return. According to Bloomberg sources, this year's generation should not bring such significant changes as the iPhone 12, which is why Apple will introduce the iPhone 12S this year.

Of course, it is clear that we are still several months away from the performance itself, during which a lot can change. Let's pour some extra pure wine. The name itself doesn't even matter that much. After that, the main changes will be the ones that will move the Apple phone forward.

This year's iPhone with a fingerprint reader in the display

As we mentioned above, according to various sources, the news in the case of this year's iPhones should only be minor. This is primarily due to the current world situation and the so-called coronavirus crisis, which has significantly slowed down (not only) the development and production of phones. But Apple should still have some news up its sleeve. These could include a fingerprint reader built directly into the device's display.

With the implementation of this news, Apple could be helped by the Californian company Qualcomm, which previously announced its own and significantly larger sensor for these purposes. One would therefore expect that it would be a major supplier. At the same time, it is a kind of standard in the case of competing phones with the Android operating system, and many Apple users would certainly like to welcome it. Although Face ID enjoys a fairly solid popularity, and thanks to the sophistication of this technology, it is a great method of security. Unfortunately, the just-mentioned coronavirus situation has shown that face scanning in a world where everyone wears a face mask is not quite the right choice. Would you welcome the return of Touch ID?
