Apple is constantly trying to improve its iPhones in various ways, thanks to which we can enjoy new or better functions year after year. Over the past few years, we've seen a number of great software improvements in the battery field. This was preceded by the well-known affair with the slowdown of Apple phones, when the Cupertino giant deliberately slowed down phones with aging batteries so that they would not automatically turn off. Thanks to this, Apple has added Battery Health to iOS, informing about the status in relation to performance. And he probably isn't going to stop.

According to a newly discovered patent that has been registered with the USPTO (US Patent & Trademark Office), Apple is currently working on a new system that would be able to accurately estimate the battery's discharge time and alert users to this fact in time. However, the system would not be intended to save the battery itself, but only to warn apple sellers. Based on the user's behavior on various days and times of the day, or depending on the location, he would be able to determine roughly when the mentioned discharge will occur. Currently, iPhones and iPads work quite primitively in this regard. Once the battery reaches 20%, the device will send a low battery notification. However, we can run into a problem quite quickly when, for example, we have a little over 20% in the evening, we forget to connect the iPhone to the charger and in the morning we encounter an unpleasant news.

The new system could therefore facilitate the daily use of the iPhone and greatly prevent unpleasant situations when we have to look for a power source at the last minute. Additionally, if you're using a Mac, you might have thought that a similar feature works on this platform. But don't be fooled. According to the patent, the novelty should work significantly better, as it would have more data available. As for the sensing of the user's location, everything should take place only within the iPhone, so that there is no violation of privacy.

At the same time, we must not forget to mention one important thing. Apple issues all kinds of patents almost like on a treadmill, in any case, most of them never even see implementation. In this case, however, we have a slightly better chance. As we already mentioned above, the Cupertino company has been working intensively on battery-related functions in recent years. In addition, the beta version of iOS 14.5 introduced a battery calibration option for iPhone 11 owners.
