A year ago, Apple unveiled the brand new generation of the iPhone, and exactly 365 days after that, it is preparing to traditionally present its improved version. Next Wednesday, September 9, we should expect the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, which will not change on the outside, but will bring very interesting news on the inside.
The probability that Apple will show new iPhones next week is practically bordering on one hundred percent. For several years now, September has belonged to Apple phones, so there is no point in asking if, but rather in what form, we will see the ninth generation of iPhones.
Citing his reliable sources inside the California company, Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac. It is on the basis of his information that we present to you below what the latest phone from Apple should look like.
Everything important will take place inside
As is customary with Apple, the second, so-called "esque" generation, usually does not bring any significant design changes, but mainly focuses on improving the hardware and other aspects of the phone. Also, the iPhone 6S (let's assume that the larger iPhone 6S Plus will also get the same news, so we won't mention it further) should look the same as the iPhone 6, and the changes will take place under the hood.
From the outside, only the new color variant should be visible. In addition to the current space gray, silver and gold, Apple is also betting on rose gold, which it has already shown with the Watch. But there will also be rose gold (the "copper" version of current gold) made of anodized aluminum, not 18-carat gold, against the watch. In this case, the front of the phone will remain white, similar to the current gold variant. Other elements such as buttons, the location of camera lenses and, for example, plastic lines with antennas should remain unchanged.
The display will also be made of the same material as before, although it is said that Apple once again considered the use of a much more durable sapphire. Even the ninth generation won't make it for the time being, so once again it comes to ion-strengthened glass called Ion-X. Just under the glass, however, there is a big novelty waiting for us - after MacBooks and Watch, the iPhone will also get Force Touch, a pressure-sensitive display, thanks to which the control of the phone will get a new dimension.
According to available information, Force Touch (a different name is also expected) in the iPhone will work on a slightly different principle than in the mentioned devices, when it's supposed to be about different shortcuts across the whole system, but the functionality, where if you press the display with more force, you get a different reaction, remains. For example, on the Watch, Force Touch brings up another layer with a new menu of options. On the iPhone, pressing the screen harder should lead directly to specific actions – starting navigation to a selected location in Maps or saving a song for offline listening in Apple Music.
Under the display, a new generation of Apple's self-developed processor with the designation A9 will appear. For now, it is not entirely clear how significant a step forward the new chip will be against the current A8 from the iPhone 6 or the A8X from the iPad Air 2, but a certain acceleration in computing and graphics performance will certainly come.
Even more interesting is the redesigned wireless system on the iPhone 6S motherboard it will feature new networking chips from Qualcomm. Its new LTE solution labeled "9X35" is both more economical and faster. In theory, thanks to it, downloads on the LTE network could be up to twice as fast (300 Mbps) than before, although in reality, depending on the operator's network, it will be a maximum of around 225 Mbps. The upload will remain the same (50 Mbps).
Since Qualcomm made this network chip for the first time using a completely new process, it is much more energy efficient and heats up less, so in case of heavy LTE usage, the iPhone might not heat up as much. Thanks to Qualcomm's new solution, the entire motherboard should be narrower and more compact, which could bring a slightly larger battery. Taking into account the new energy-saving features in iOS 9 and the more economical LTE chip, we could expect a longer battery life for the entire phone.
After four years, more megapixels
Apple has never gambled on the number of megapixels. Although iPhones had "only" 8 megapixels for a few years, few phones have matched them in terms of resulting photo quality, whether they had the same or many times more megapixels. But progress is still moving forward, and Apple will apparently increase the number of megapixels in its rear camera after four years. The last time it did so was in the iPhone 4S in 2011, when it went from 5 megapixels to 8. This year it is to be upgraded to 12 megapixels.
It is not yet clear whether the sensor will actually have a native 12 megapixels, or one more with subsequent cropping due to digital stabilization, but it is certain that the result will be larger photos in a higher resolution.
Video will also experience a significant leap – from the current 1080p, the iPhone 6S will be able to shoot in 4K, which is slowly becoming the standard among mobile devices, even so, Apple is far from the last to enter this "game". The benefits are in better stability, clarity of videos and also greater options in post-production. At the same time, the resulting video will look better on large monitors and televisions that support 4K.
The front FaceTime camera will also undergo a positive change for users. An improved sensor (perhaps even more megapixels) should ensure better quality video calls and a software flash should be added for selfies. Instead of adding a physical flash to the front of the iPhone, Apple chose to take inspiration from Snapchat or the Mac's own Photo Booth, and when you press the shutter button, the screen lights up white. The front camera should also be able to capture panoramas and shoot slow-motion in 720p.
On the software side, iOS 9 will provide most of the news, but compared to previous generations, the iPhone 6S should have one exclusivity in the system: animated wallpapers, as we know from Watch. On them, the user can choose jellyfish, butterflies or flowers. On the new iPhone, there should be at least fish or smoke effects, which have already appeared in iOS 9 betas as static images.
Let's not expect a four-inch "tick".
Ever since Apple introduced only iPhones larger than four inches for the first time in history last year, there has been speculation about how it will approach screen sizes this year. Another 4,7-inch iPhone 6S and 5,5-inch iPhone 6S Plus were certain, but some hoped that Apple could introduce a third variant, the four-inch iPhone 6C, after a year's absence.
According to available information, Apple really toyed with the idea of a four-inch phone, but eventually backed away from it, and this year's generation should have two phones with larger diagonals, which proved to be a hit, although some users are still not used to the larger phones.
As the last four-inch iPhone, the iPhone 5S from 2013 should remain in the offer. The plastic iPhone 5C introduced in the same year will end. The current iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will also remain in the offer at a reduced price. The new iPhones should probably go on sale a week or two after their introduction, i.e. on September 18 or 25.
New iPhones will be introduced next Wednesday, September 9, probably alongside the new Apple TV.
I would finally like new processors for macbook pro :/
you speak from my heart.. :(
and why doesn't your cpu slow down? I have an i7 and it's fine with an overview even for professional work. it's worse with ram and disk. and by making it irreplaceable, it will only get worse. so I don't expect anything from pro anymore.
in that it is a 2-year-old model. New CPU = less consumption and, of course, better performance, although that is mostly enough
I don't know, everyone is clamoring for new processors, but I personally think that the performance of most Macs is sufficient - given their purpose. I have the highest configuration 15″ Retina Pro 2012 and the only time I am able to reach its limit is working (and still quite heavy, not just some editing) with RAW video.
With normal work (AutoCad, ArchiCAD 3D, Photoshop + a ton of other things) I don't even get to 70% of the load...
Although of course I understand that with an Airy or a 13″ Pro (or even a similar generation as my Pro) you can push it to the limit more easily.
Even if most Apple users will say that it is pointless, I would welcome wireless charging that is still being washed. I was his opponent until this year. I tried it with a competitor and the whole charging process is almost problem-free, as well as the speed is almost equal to the cable today. The short cable, the stiffness when removing it (I've already managed to cut off the cable 2 times), the small socket (a problem especially in the dark), it kind of annoys me. When someone calls, the IP has to be disconnected, then connected again. The principle of the charger, that I put the phone down and ende, is more comfortable, in my opinion.
so buy an ikea case
Just because of the two words, "ikea" and "case", I wouldn't buy it :)
I absolutely agree. Personally, it's practically the only thing I miss. You can get an iPhone cover that will allow this, but that sucks. What's the point of buying an expensive thin phone if I can put a thick ugly cover on it...
No, I don't understand this. When I really need to charge, I charge. This is where wireless charging is a drag – if I want to pick up the device or want to make a phone call, the charging is interrupted and so it can happen again and again at any moment. No, that's not the solution. When I'm on the cable, it's still charging and that's how it should be. However, I have the device in the dock in the office, so it's always in sight from my working position and if I don't need to put it to my ear, I can control it easily even while charging. That wouldn't happen on the charging pad - a step back. When I have to run somewhere, I just take off my iPhone in one quick movement and go. I'll put it on when I get back, no problem. Wireless charging would do me no good.
Complete agreement. I have a Note 3 where there is a pretty good case for wireless charging. I do not have it. Most of the time, when I charge, I'm also working on the phone. I often play games or watch movies. Especially in the evening, when the battery has run out after a day's work. It works fine with a cable, wireless is impossible
Exactly my speech - I often play games or just do something on the iPhone, it would drain the battery and there would not be much power left when I leave, so I am connected by cable. Doing this on a charging pad? No never.
I don't see any benefit in wireless charging, especially not when a person has to hit the coil by a millimeter to start charging (my own experience with Samsung). When I need to do something on my mobile while charging, I personally think it's more convenient to have it on the cable. But probably the most important thing is that the battery will probably not benefit much if I pick up and disconnect the phone from the charger every 10 minutes.
Ion-X – nice names for their designation, however, it is precisely the glass from Apple in recent generations that must be protected with film/glasses, otherwise one cannot avoid scratches even in the packaging. That was something I didn't have to deal with at the top competition.
In the future, I would welcome waterproofing and wireless charging (I would especially appreciate this at work, when I need to run away from my desk every now and then and the cable is impractical). I would guess that we could expect both in the iPhone 7... Now Apple is testing it on the Apple Watch, so why not use it in the iPhone with great fame.
Otherwise, they don't have much to improve it for me. I know of absolutely nothing that I would miss on my iPhone. Actually, I haven't missed anything for several years. I bought the iPhone 6 Plus because of the bigger battery, otherwise I would still be with the iPhone 5, which was nicer and less problematic.
I expect the same design, 3g lighter, 500,- more expensive, 1,5x more powerful... just like always with Sku :-)
We don't expect big changes, the iPhone is already an almost perfect mobile, just to solve the flashlight and a few things on iOS.
is it worth solving? won't it wait a few days? I would understand if the revelation was in half a year, but like this?
and otherwise completely mentally healthy?
You don't know the non-peasant Anton? So you come here every now and then to have a little laugh.
We can be glad that Anton didn't write us how much he takes... That's his second favorite number...
Super 12 Mega! These will no longer be LEGO photos but HD LEGO
The competition has been 41mpix for several years!!!
I'm waiting for a Lumia with 20 megabytes and beautiful photos
I'm going to repeat myself, but you obviously won't give up, so I'll tell you one more time. Only a moron buys a phone because of the camera, and that moron is probably you :)
For a moron, every moron... :-) Having a good camera on your phone is practical for "this kind of our home photography". I (unfortunately) take 90% of the photos with my phone. Putting a pidi lens from skoroplastic on a pidi chip with 40M pidi pixels is for another discussion.
Not everyone is a moron, except for the man who is 41 mpix away from the competition in the discussions here. A current camera is more than enough for "this kind of our home photography", if I want better photos I take a SLR camera, so I don't really understand your argument..
If you don't plan to print your photos on a giant screen, your 41 mpx is completely irrelevant. Other parameters are far more important. That's why the iPhone's camera is also much better than the camera of most other phones, even though they have far more megapixels. Just try to write that Apple is 100 years behind the monkeys, because the 5-inch display does not have 4K resolution, and you will be crowned the king of the ignorant digging trolls.
What about durability? In the course of two weeks, two of my friends dropped their iPhones 6. One of them fell out of his pants pocket and one of them even just from the sports bag on which he put it while playing tennis and it fell while carrying it. Both of them broke the cover glass. Quite a weakness for such an expensive phone.
durability = lousy (but what would a person want with a nonsensical metal construction)
size = poor for men (if you don't wear a men's shirt / or let 2 years get used to it, because I don't want to get used to anything with the device)
extra performance = work, it's already enough performance and if it's lame somewhere, it's only thanks to iOS upgrades that use up more and more resources
forceTouch = a toy for children
the only positive thing is a better photo, but is it worth it? and where is the competition today in terms of HW? (software is hard to compare) I'll tell you... a few years ahead
You say that what's the point of performance and then that the competition in hw is years ahead...
I have an iPhone 5S 32GB and I think I can easily last until the 7S :)
