When the new iPhone 5 was introduced, it received only a lukewarm reception. The hall at the Yerba Buena Center was certainly not roaring with enthusiasm. The value of the company's shares fell for a few moments, and over-the-top debaters sang dirges about how Apple was losing its luster, its stamp of innovation and its edge over the competition. When reading the passionate comments under the articles about the recently introduced iPhone, everyone must have gotten the impression that the iPhone 5 will be a sales flop...
However, a significant number of those interested in the iPhone 5 changed their minds very quickly after only a few hours. On the official website Apple.com, the pre-sale of the iPhone 5 started, and within the first thirty minutes, Apple's servers were absolutely overwhelmed. Then, within a single hour, all existing stocks of the new iPhones disappeared from imaginary counters. The apple phone in all three specifications and in two colors was dusted in just 60 minutes. The iPhone 4, which was sold out in the first 20 hours, and the iPhone 4S, which withstood the onslaught of customers for the entire 22 hours, did incredibly well. However, the iPhone 5 broke records again.
Why is it that the new iPhone has attracted so many customers, even if it does not have any new breathtaking features this time? iPhone 4 came with a Retina display, iPhone 4S with Siri... What makes people immediately buy the new "five"? Perhaps, after the first few hours of disappointment, Apple customers finally realized why they love their darlings with the bitten apple symbol so much. The basis of the Cupertino company's success is above all an intuitive, clean and fast operating system, the perfect interconnection of individual products via iCloud, great developers churning out an incredible amount of applications and, last but not least, a completely unique design. When the iPhone has this, it needs hardware comparable to the competition, because Apple's philosophy is simply somewhere else.
It is also a fact that once the creator of the operating system has such a quantum of customers, he will definitely not lose them overnight. Anyone who really wants to use their smartphone in a meaningful way has purchased a certain number of applications that they would lose when switching to another brand. He would be forced to buy them again for another platform.
Apple spokesperson Nat Kerris also commented on the incredibly successful pre-sale:
The course of pre-sales of the iPhone 5 was absolutely sensational. We are blown away by this fantastic response from customers.
Samsung also boasted record numbers recently. The Korean giant announced that it sold 20 million Galaxy S 3 phones in 100 days. However, this statement needs to be corrected somewhat. During the recent trial between Apple and Samsung, it became clear that the Koreans are bragging about the number of devices that are still in stores and that they still have a long way to go to obtain the status of "sold device".
Well, that's it. I'm really curious what kind of meaningful arguments the clever "analysts" on various forums will have now.
Well, classically .. that we are just stupid sheep. I'm really looking forward to the iP5, I won't stand in line, but I'd like to have it a week after delivery to the Czech Republic. I just always wanted white, but now I'm on the fence. The black one doesn't look bad either
It can be seen that someone here did not understand Apple products, otherwise the editor would have known immediately during the keynote that the iPhone 5 will break sales records again.
It is so. By the way, breaking sales records literally defines isheep.
I still don't understand your indignation over the pet. What revolutionary was he supposed to come up with? It's just not time for all the sci-fi elements you'd imagine. I need a compact size, a little thickness. That's probably the main draw. I have already come to terms with the design and I like it. And by the way... do you think that Steve Jobs isn't signed under the iPhone 5?? I think he started to develop long before his death..
The fountain isn't there! I will never buy a new iPhone again until it has a teleporter, a water fountain and a 20″ display!
That article on mobile mania, actually... the report from the queue at the opening of the new AppStore... suggests a lot.
Of course, I don't want to offend anyone, some people stand in line for hours to get into the Metallica cauldron, some go to watch the rally...
appstore? More like an Apple store...Appstore has been around for a few years now :-) How can someone mess around with Apple when they don't even know what it's called :))
Yes, my private phone is with Android. But I do e-publishing for iPads, so I also have the Jabko at home... of course my quibble with the AppStore vs the Apple Store.
Well, of course, if you put 100 pieces on sale, you'll be clamoring for them. I have a 4s myself and the need for version 5 is zero. Give some thought to the launch of the i5. After all, it has absolutely nothing new - almost everything is software. Besides how they handle marketing and making fools of people.
I actually forgot about the News!!! – you can make phone calls from the iPhone 5 – hooray – finally.
2x more RAM, 2,5x faster processor, larger display (a definite plus for me), absence of easily breakable glass backs, LTE (doesn't work here, but that's the only reason you can't ignore it - it's a change)... I don't think it's anything like that …
But note, this is not an innovation, this is a necessity!
The innovation was, for example, siri last year, but this was an inevitable modification.
Just like the competition. Nothing new under the sun, the iPhone 5 left me cold.
And future presentations will also leave me cold. Apple is going downhill.
Without Jobs, Apple is not the Apple before.
Clearly. It's going down so much that 5 pre-orders were made for the iPhone 2 in the first day ;-) Jobs still designed the 000, so I don't know what his absence has to do with it. I'm excited about 000 and I'm already looking forward to him coming home :-)
Exactly. Before Steve left, he gave his colleagues instructions regarding new products for the next four years. I personally have an IP4 and I'm definitely in the top five! It's the bomb. It's not a plastic paddle like the Samsung Galaxy S3. It is an excellent design and functional product. If someone doesn't like it, DON'T BUY IT!!! You just don't have to! Feel free to get rid of your existing iPhones and get something else. There are a lot of good phones on the market. But the hell with the crap about apple going down and not being Steve anymore. I think Steve could be quite proud of his legacy.
Just like the competition, where they make a new design and leave the intestines completely unchanged... For God's sake, think about it, people, do you want a quality and stable machine for flawless work or a plastic toy for showing off?
Agreed, unfortunately. I was definitely expecting something "new". These are more fixes to the current version.
The fountain wasn't there, was it? Otherwise, basically everything has been changed, from a larger display, better color rendering, through thickness, weight and a new connector, to completely new internals (camera, antenna, sound, processor, graphics, memory, battery). It's still not enough. However, it is still true that buying a new phone is not mandatory. Anyone who is not satisfied can keep theirs, or even buy a competitor's. Well, it's not beautiful :-)
I was also "expecting something new", but then I thought about it more deeply and the direction of the new iP5 makes a lot of sense to me. It's just that it's not about coming up with something absolutely new every year... why too. We improve the existing one and that's it. I was fascinated by the new model despite the fact that it doesn't have a new shape :) BTW, what specifically new did you expect? Form or rather function?
Over 2 million units were sold in that hour…
I also expected a rather stagnant result, but what you wrote is a fact, and it is also a fact that many people will switch from 3G or 4. They would not find anything groundbreaking with the competition, and they would just lose what you write about. But it could also be just the first wave, so let's wait for the judgments.
It is evident that Apple changed its strategy after the death of Jobs. He opens himself up to the masses and tries to please. A manipulable people buys, but the idea of Apple is fading away. Cook can raise sales, but he can't replace Jobs in his ideology.
And you know how?
You sucked it out of your finger, just like everyone else, who since Jobs' death know exactly how things will be with Apple and how it would be if Jobs were alive :-))) .. yes if .. if they were vp* share fish, there would be no ponds…
if the iphone 5 had come last year, as it was supposed to (before steve jobs stopped it at the last minute and only introduced the iphone 4S), it would have been a revolution. but with a year's delay it is rather a necessary evolution. I have an iPhone 4S myself and I don't need to change - most functions will still be available on the 4S. so we'll see what the "iphone 6" brings :)
otherwise, my personal opinion on the 4" display is that it is useless. previous generations of iPhones had compact dimensions and a display just right for a phone. there is an ipad for a larger display.
I don't understand the dissatisfaction with the iPhone 5. After all, compared to the 4S, it has a processor that is twice as fast, a graphics card that is twice as fast, twice as much RAM, a larger display, it is thinner, lighter, has a metal unibody body instead of a glass one, n-metal Wi-Fi, LTE (and (probably unusable in Slovakia), new camera with sapphire glass and better stabilization, new iOS 6. I know if someone is dissatisfied, they can keep their current iPhone or buy a cheaper 4S or 4.
Well, it could have had NFC, but that can be solved with a case. LTE is still useless in Slovakia, because I will allocate frequencies for LTE in Slovakia next year and I will have at least a year to launch the network, so in reality it will be possible to use LTE in Slovakia in 2 years at the earliest. Until then, there will be two more new iPhones.
Well, NFC is quite sporadic. Apple is trying to push Passbook, if it succeeds NFC will be an unnecessary technology. For Apple, Passbook is better in that every device with IOS6 gets it, so it doesn't have to equip iPads with the NFC function, etc. You simply pay with everything that has IOS6. So the success of NFC will come only if Apple fails with Passbook.
Personally, I don't have an iPhone and I've been planning it for half a year. So I waited until he presented it and ordered it. I don't mind the fact that there isn't much new. Because I can only compare it with the Nokia 5530 I have. And if there are more people like me that it will be their first iPhone, then the marketability is clear. I think it will be good for people who buy a phone for the first time. Plus people with 3G and 3GS. If I had a 4 or 4S, I would wait another 1-2 years...
I have a four out of five, I'm looking forward to it. The iPhone is a great phone :) looking forward to the upgrade
Now those poor haters who so convincingly claimed that the new iPhone 5 will be a total fail and a real flop are going to close their mouths. Apple simply has its customers and can influence many others. Their marketing is just great.
The only thing that disappointed me (on iOS 6) is Facebook integration. I was hoping that they wouldn't build it there, but the opposite is true, unfortunately.
I'm personally glad that Facebook will be there, and I'm not a teenager. it will be the same implementation as twitter at the same time. those who don't want to, don't have to activate it, and it will be the same with FB.
