When the new iPhone 5 was introduced, it received only a lukewarm reception. The hall at the Yerba Buena Center was certainly not roaring with enthusiasm. The value of the company's shares fell for a few moments, and over-the-top debaters sang dirges about how Apple was losing its luster, its stamp of innovation and its edge over the competition. When reading the passionate comments under the articles about the recently introduced iPhone, everyone must have gotten the impression that the iPhone 5 will be a sales flop...

However, a significant number of those interested in the iPhone 5 changed their minds very quickly after only a few hours. On the official website Apple.com, the pre-sale of the iPhone 5 started, and within the first thirty minutes, Apple's servers were absolutely overwhelmed. Then, within a single hour, all existing stocks of the new iPhones disappeared from imaginary counters. The apple phone in all three specifications and in two colors was dusted in just 60 minutes. The iPhone 4, which was sold out in the first 20 hours, and the iPhone 4S, which withstood the onslaught of customers for the entire 22 hours, did incredibly well. However, the iPhone 5 broke records again.

Why is it that the new iPhone has attracted so many customers, even if it does not have any new breathtaking features this time? iPhone 4 came with a Retina display, iPhone 4S with Siri... What makes people immediately buy the new "five"? Perhaps, after the first few hours of disappointment, Apple customers finally realized why they love their darlings with the bitten apple symbol so much. The basis of the Cupertino company's success is above all an intuitive, clean and fast operating system, the perfect interconnection of individual products via iCloud, great developers churning out an incredible amount of applications and, last but not least, a completely unique design. When the iPhone has this, it needs hardware comparable to the competition, because Apple's philosophy is simply somewhere else.

It is also a fact that once the creator of the operating system has such a quantum of customers, he will definitely not lose them overnight. Anyone who really wants to use their smartphone in a meaningful way has purchased a certain number of applications that they would lose when switching to another brand. He would be forced to buy them again for another platform.

Apple spokesperson Nat Kerris also commented on the incredibly successful pre-sale:

The course of pre-sales of the iPhone 5 was absolutely sensational. We are blown away by this fantastic response from customers.

Samsung also boasted record numbers recently. The Korean giant announced that it sold 20 million Galaxy S 3 phones in 100 days. However, this statement needs to be corrected somewhat. During the recent trial between Apple and Samsung, it became clear that the Koreans are bragging about the number of devices that are still in stores and that they still have a long way to go to obtain the status of "sold device".
