In the case of this year's iPhone 13 generation, Apple finally listened to the long-standing pleas of Apple users and brought a little more storage. For example, the base models of the iPhone 13 and 13 mini no longer start at 64 GB, but at twice that in the form of 128 GB. The option to pay extra for up to 1TB of storage has also been added for the Pro and Pro Max versions. To make matters worse, interesting speculation is now starting to spread on the Internet, according to which the iPhone 14 should offer up to 2TB of storage. But does such a change even have a chance?

iPhone 13 Pro and 4 storage variants

Even the presentation of the iPhone 13 Pro itself is interesting, where you can choose from as many as four storage variants, which has never happened in the past. Until now, Apple phones were always available in only three variants. In this regard, however, Apple fans speculate that Apple had to take this step for simple reasons. This is because the quality of cameras is constantly improving, which is why the devices take and record significantly better pictures. This will naturally affect the size of the given files. By introducing the 1TB iPhone 13 Pro (Max), Apple probably responded to the ability of Apple phones to shoot ProRes video.

iPhone 13 Pro is also available with 1TB of storage:

iPhone 14 with 2TB storage?

The Chinese website MyDrivers reported on the aforementioned speculation, according to which the iPhone 14 should offer up to 2TB of storage. At first glance, it doesn't seem twice as plausible, given the pace at which Apple is increasing storage options. Therefore, most apple lovers do not take the latest information twice seriously, which is also quite understandable.

In any case, the speculation easily follows on from earlier mentions of the DigiTimes portal, which is known for sharing various leaks and potential news. He previously mentioned that Apple is currently preparing to adopt a new storage technology, which it could use in the case of future iPhones 2022. According to this information, the Cupertino giant is currently working with its suppliers of NAND flash chips to develop so-called QLC (quad-level cell) of NAND flash storage. Although DigiTimes did not make a single mention of increasing the storage, it makes sense in the end. QLC NAND technology adds an extra layer that allows companies to increase storage capacity at a significantly lower cost.

What is the chance of change

In conclusion, therefore, a simple question is offered - does the speculation from the MyDrivers website actually have any weight? An iPhone 14 with up to 2TB of storage would undoubtedly please a lot of travelers who take photos and videos on their travels. Even so, such news seems very unlikely, and therefore it is necessary to approach it with respect. In any case, we are almost a year away from the introduction of the next iPhones, and theoretically anything can happen. Therefore, we can easily be surprised in the final, but for now it doesn't quite look like that. Currently, there is nothing left but to wait for the statement of verified sources.
