A short while ago, you could read the unboxing of the iPhone 13 presented by Jablíčkář. However, as we have already mentioned, the packaging does not bring any major changes, so nothing prevents us from jumping on the traditional first impressions. So we have the 6,1″ iPhone 13 in (PRODUCT)RED at our disposal, but a simple question arises. How does this model affect the apple drinker after the first few minutes?

In terms of design, I have nothing to complain about the phone. I personally like sharp edges much more, and I dare say that this is the right direction Apple should go. However, it should be noted that design is highly subjective and everyone may like something different. Compared to last year's iPhone 12, however, there are not many noticeable changes, or rather only one. Of course, we are talking about a smaller upper cutout, but it is not perfect and I am 100% sure that its presence can make some users angry.

Apple iPhone 13

I would like to stay a little longer with the upper cutout. I have to admit that I personally don't mind the notch, for which Apple is often the target of harsh criticism, even from within its own ranks. I simply accept it because of Face ID and take it for granted, which takes a lot of time and even more patience to remove. That's exactly why I wasn't really happy about this change at the official unveiling of the new series, but I wasn't sad either. However, if I were to evaluate it as objectively as possible, I would of course be happy for a smaller cutout. It means that Apple is aware of public criticism and intends to do something about it. Although not quite at the pace that some apple fans would like, but still better than nothing. At the same time, it outlines a possible view into the future. If we have now seen a reduction, it may not be long before we completely forget about the upper cutout. As I already mentioned, it will require a considerable amount of patience.

We finally see the appropriate change when looking at the display. Apple has increased the maximum brightness from the previous 625 nits to 800 nits, which can be seen immediately at first glance. Another change is the greater thickness of the device, specifically by 0,25 millimeters, and 11 grams more weight. But as the numbers themselves suggest, these are completely negligible values, which if I didn't know about, I probably would never have come across them.

Let's move on to the camera itself. It was able to pleasantly please me already at the conference itself, and I was extremely looking forward to the moment when I would finally be able to try it out. I have to admit that during the few minutes of use I was impressed with the cinema mode's capabilities. How it all works, what the camera's options are, and how the video looks, we will discuss in our more detailed review.

Let's sum it all up in the end. When I unboxed the new iPhone 13 and held it in my hand, I felt a rather cold relationship with it. I wasn't particularly excited about it, but I wasn't disappointed at the same time. Anyway, the joy came only after turning on the phone. As I mentioned above, the higher maximum display brightness is a welcome change and the camera capabilities look really promising. At the same time, in my first impressions, I did not draw any attention to the performance of the device, namely the Apple A15 Bionic chip. In short, the iPhone runs briskly and without the slightest hitch, as has been the case for years.
