The App Store did well in 2020. What apps were the most popular?

Apple to us today he boasted with a very interesting press release, which deals primarily with the App Store and the popularity of Apple services. During the New Year, the Cupertino company set a record for spending in the aforementioned store, when it was an incredible 540 million dollars, which is almost 11,5 billion crowns. Over the past year, the Zoom and Disney+ applications have undoubtedly enjoyed the greatest popularity, registering the most downloads of all. Gaming has also grown in popularity rapidly.

The Apple company continued to boast that the developers themselves have earned 2008 million dollars from products and services through the App Store since 200, which is roughly 4,25 billion crowns. The last very interesting figure is that during the week from Christmas Day to New Year's, users spent 1,8 billion dollars, i.e. 38,26 billion crowns, in the App Store.

The Mac App Store celebrates its 10th birthday today

We'll stay with the Apple app store for a while, but this time we'll focus on the one we know from Macs. While the standard App Store appeared on iPhones back in July 2008, we had to wait for the Mac App Store until January 6, 2011, when Apple released Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6, which is why it celebrates its 10th birthday today. At the very launch of the store, there were just over a thousand apps on it, and Steve Jobs himself commented that users would definitely like this innovative way of discovering and buying apps. Even in its first year of operation, the Mac App Store passed certain milestones. For example, it was able to surpass one million downloads in the first day and 100 million downloads by the end of the year, i.e. in December 2011.

Google plans to update its apps to add information about what data they collect

In yesterday's summary, we informed you about a very interesting report concerning Google and privacy. As of version iOS 14.3 in the App Store, Apple started using labels called Privacy protection in the application, thanks to which the user is informed before installation about what data the program will collect about you, whether it will connect it with you and how it will be used in the future. This rule came into effect from December 8, 2020, and every developer must honestly write down the true information. But the interesting thing is that since the date of validity, Google has not updated its single application, while it has on Androids.

Fast Company toyed with the idea that Google is trying to hide until the last minute how it handles the collected user data. Above all, after the avalanche of criticism that descended on Facebook after filling in the mentioned information. Currently, a well-known magazine has intervened TechCrunch with a different opinion looking at it from the other side. Supposedly, Google should not boycott this new feature in any way, but on the contrary, it is preparing to release new updates that will come either next week or the week after. Anyway, it's interesting that on Androids, some programs were updated even before Christmas. However, the mentioned source is of the opinion that the given updates on the competing platform were already ready, while nothing was worked on during the Christmas break.

Thanks to Samsung, the iPhone 13 could offer a 120Hz display

Even before the introduction of last year's iPhone 12, there was a lot of talk about potential gadgets. Most often, for example, there was talk of a return to the square design, which was later confirmed. We've seen fairly variable reports on the subject of displays. One week there was talk of the arrival of a display with a higher refresh rate, while the next week this information was denied, saying that Apple is unable to reliably implement this technology. According to the latest news from TheElec we could finally expect this year, thanks to rival Samsung. If you are asking when will the iphone 13 come out , the answer is of course autumn of this year, like every year.

Introducing the iPhone 12:

The Cupertino company is reportedly going to use Samsung's LTPO technology, which would finally allow the implementation of a display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Of course, this is just speculation for now and there are still a few months left before the introduction of this year's iPhones. So it is possible that a number of different messages will appear during this time. We therefore have no choice but to wait until the iconic September keynote. Would you welcome this move forward or are you satisfied with the current displays?
