Last week we saw the highly anticipated presentation of the new generation of Apple phones. Last Tuesday, the Californian giant revealed four new iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models. The "twelves" were able to gain huge attention almost immediately and enjoy high popularity in the apple-growing community. Moreover, it is still a hot topic that is discussed on a daily basis. And that's why we're going to focus on the iPhone 12 in today's summary.

iPhone 12 in Dual SIM mode does not support 5G

Without a doubt, one of the biggest innovations of the new generation is the support of 5G networks. The competition came up with this gadget almost two years ago, but Apple decided to implement it only now, when it also designed the relevant chips completely by itself. We can definitely say with confidence that this is a step forward that can provide users with far better stability and speed. But as it turned out, there is also a catch. At a certain point, you will not be able to use the mentioned 5G.

The Californian giant has shared an FAQ document with official retailers and operators, according to which it will not be able to use the iPhone in 5G mode if Dual SIM is active, or when the phone is running on two phone numbers. As soon as two phone lines are in active operation, it will make it impossible to receive a 5G signal on both of them, due to which the user will only get to the 4G LTE network. But what if you only use eSIM? In that case, you shouldn't encounter a problem - if you have a tariff from an operator that supports 5G and you are within range of the signal, everything will go without a single problem.

iPhone 12:

So if you were going to use the new iPhone 12 or 12 Pro as a personal and work phone and at the same time you were looking forward to the benefits that 5G networks bring us, then you are out of luck. To use 5G, you will need to temporarily deactivate one of the SIM cards. In the current situation, it is not even clear whether this limitation is connected to a software error or the chip itself. So we can only hope to see a software fix. Otherwise, we can simply forget about 5G in the case of two SIM cards.

iPhone 12 could beat iPhone 6 in sales, Taiwanese carriers claim

Four days ago, we informed you in our magazine about the high demand for new iPhones in Taiwan. In this country, after the new generation, the ground literally collapsed, when it "sold out" within 45 minutes after the start of pre-sales. It is also interesting for the reason that the 6,1″ iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models entered pre-sale first. Now the Taiwanese mobile operators have commented on the whole situation through the newspaper Economic Daily News. They expect that the sales of the new generation will easily pocket the legendary success of the iPhone 6.

Apple itself is probably counting on enormous demand. The actual production of Apple phones is handled by companies such as Foxconn and Pegatron, which still offer a number of entry bonuses, recruitment allowances and other benefits. But let's compare it with the mentioned "six." It entered the market in 2014 and almost immediately managed to gain popularity among apple lovers themselves, mainly thanks to the larger 4,7" display. In just two quarters, 135,6 million units were sold. However, the Californian giant stopped reporting sales figures in 2018, so we won't know the exact sales of this year's generation.

Ming-Chi Kuo also expects stronger demand for new iPhones

Strong demand is also expected by TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This morning, he released a new research analysis in which he communicates the expected sales capacity in the pre-sale. Kuo specifically focused on what percentage of the total stock of available phones will be sold. Literally huge popularity is enjoyed by the 6,1″ iPhone 12, which should be an amazing 40-45%. This is a great jump, as it was initially expected to be 15-20%.

Pro iPhone 12:

Even the 6,1″ iPhone 12 Pro, on which the most loyal fans are "grinding their teeth", was able to exceed expectations. This variant is also in high demand on the Chinese market. The Pro version, including the Max model, should boast 30-35% of units sold this quarter. The opposite is the case with the mini version. Kuo initially expected high popularity, but has now lowered his forecast to 10-15% (from the original 20-25%). The reason should be the low demand again on the Chinese market. And what is your opinion? Did you like the iPhone 12 or 12 Pro, or do you prefer to stick with your older model?
