Given that two weeks ago we saw the presentation of the new iPhones, which the first Apple users already have in their hands, these users must have already completely grasped the new model. Now comes slightly different responsibilities that owners of these flagships should be aware of. These include, for example, procedures with which you can forcefully restart new iPhones, put them into recovery mode or DFU mode, temporarily disable Face ID on them, or call the emergency line. So if you want to be able to control the new iPhones from this side as well, then you are absolutely right here today - we will show you step by step how to do it.
On and off
This procedure is very simple. If you want to turn on the device, simply hold the side button. In case of shutdown, proceed as follows:
- Press and hold side button and press and hold at the same time volume down button or volume up button
- Once the screen with sliders and buttons appears let go
- Hover over the slider swipe to turn off
Forced restart
Force restarting your device can come in handy if your iPhone has become completely unresponsive and uncontrollable for some reason. Here's how to simply restart it no matter what happens:
- Press and release volume up button
- Press and release volume down button
- Press and hold the side button until the device reboots
Note: points 1 – 2 should be done as quickly as possible
Recovery mode
By putting your device into recovery mode, you get the option to install a new version of iOS on your iPhone. This can come in handy if iTunes can't recognize your device, or if you're experiencing a bootloop:
- Connect your iPhone to your computer or Mac using Lightning cable
- Press and release volume up button
- Press and release volume down button
- Press and hold side button, until the device restarts and hold it even after the Apple logo appears
- Run it iTunes
- A message will appear in iTunes "Your iPhone has encountered a problem that requires an update or restore."
Note: points 2 – 3 should be done as quickly as possible

If you want to exit recovery mode, do the following:

DFU mode
DFU, Device Firmware Update, is used to install a completely new and clean installation of iOS. This option is useful if your iPhone's operating system appears to be corrupted in some way and could benefit from a clean install of iOS:
- Connect your iPhone to your computer or Mac using Lightning cable
- Press and release volume up button
- Press and release volume down button
- Press and hold side button for 10 seconds until the iPhone screen turns black
- Together with pressed side button press and hold volume down button
- After five seconds, let go side button a volume down button hold for another 10 seconds
- If the screen remains black, you win
- Run it iTunes
- A message will appear in iTunes "iTunes found iPhone in recovery mode, iPhone will need to be restored before using with iTunes."
Note: points 2 – 3 should be done as quickly as possible
Exit DFU mode
If you want to exit DFU mode, proceed as follows:
- Press and release volume up button
- Press and release volume down button
- Press and hold side button, until the device restarts
Note: points 1 – 2 should be done as quickly as possible
Temporarily block Face ID
If you find yourself in a situation where you need to quickly and secretly deactivate Face ID, there is a fairly simple option:
- Press and hold side button and press and hold at the same time volume down button or volume up button
- Once the screen with sliders and buttons appears let go
- Click on cross at the bottom of the screen
Call the emergency services
If you need to call the emergency services as quickly as possible, for example in the event of an accident or other misfortune, just use this simple procedure:
- Press and hold side button and press and hold at the same time volume down button or volume up button
- As soon as the slider screen appears, keep holding the buttons
