With the arrival of iOS 16, we also saw the introduction of iPadOS 16. Even within this new system for Apple tablets, there are countless interesting novelties that are definitely worth checking out. If you are interested in what news will be available, just read this article.

At the outset, it should be mentioned that iPadOS is still a kind of hybrid between iOS and iPadOS. This simply means that all the news we saw in iOS 16 - see above - are also available in iPadOS. However, some features remain purely iPad-specific, such as Apple Pencil support and more. From the news that we already learned about at the presentation of iOS 16, iPadOS 16 includes, for example, a shared library on iCloud, shared groups of tabs in Safari, and much more.

What's new in iPadOS are so-called collaborations. This section will be located directly in the sharing tab and it will be possible to collaborate on different projects through it. In practice, for example, you will be able to work on a note with people, with the fact that thanks to collaboration you will be able to chat about changes or otherwise communicate. This function will be available, for example, in Safari, Notes or Keynote.

Together with the collaboration, the new Freeform application will arrive, which represents a kind of virtual whiteboard on which users will be able to work together on various projects. It will be possible to place text, sketches, photos, videos, PDF documents and more here - in short and simply everything you will work on. This virtual whiteboard will then be able to be shared within a FaceTime call during collaboration and will also be available in Messages within iMessage. Among other things, this application will be available on iOS and macOS, in any case, we won't see it on all systems until later.

In the new iPadOS 16, we also got a new Weather application - finally. It uses the iPads' large displays to display as much different information as possible, which is definitely useful. WeatherKit will also be available for developers to embed Weather apps into their own apps. However, we still haven't seen our own Calculator application.

iPadOS 16 also comes with Metal 3 support, as does macOS 13 Ventura. Thanks to this new version of the graphics API, users will get even more performance, which they will be able to use in games, etc. Game Center and SharePlay have also received improvements for an even better connection between players. Other novelties in applications include, for example, the ability to change file extensions in the Files application, and in general, applications will gain new management options – for example, undo/redo action, customization of the toolbar, etc.

As in macOS 13 Ventura, Stage Manager is now available in iPadOS 16, thanks to which you are able to multitask better. Stage Manager can easily resize windows and display them better, and at the same time, thanks to it, you will be able to move between applications faster. In addition, you can simply work in two applications at the same time and move them to the foreground or background as needed, etc. Of course, we will cover all other news in separate articles.
