Last week, on the occasion of the developer conference WWDC21, Apple boasted of new operating systems, among which there was also iPadOS 15. Although Apple users expected huge changes from this version, thanks to which they could use their iPad significantly better for work, multitasking and many other activities, in the end we only got a few new things. But as it now turns out, the Cupertino giant has also improved the native Files app, making it much easier to work with files and even bringing NTFS support.

The NTFS file system is typical for Windows and it was not possible to work with it on the iPad until now. Newly, however, the iPadOS system can read it (read-only) and thus obtain practically the same options as it has in the case of NTFS and macOS. However, since this is read-only access, it will not be possible to work with the data. In this case, it will be necessary to first copy the files to, for example, the internal storage. Fortunately, it doesn't end there. In addition, a circular transfer indicator has been added to the Files application, which will appear when you move or copy your data. Clicking on it will also open a progress bar where you can see the mentioned transfer in much more detail - that is, including details about the transferred and remaining files, the estimated time and the option to cancel.

Apple users who use a mouse or trackpad when working on an iPad will certainly appreciate another new feature. It will now be possible to select several files by tapping and holding and then dragging, which you can then work with in bulk. For example, all of them can be archived, moved, copied, etc. at the same time. But let's pour some pure wine. This is good news, but it is still not what we would expect from the iPadOS system. What are you missing from it so far?
