The iPad mini with Retina display got into the hands of the first customers and the server didn't miss a beat iFixit, which new tablet immediately disassembled. It turns out that the second generation has a significantly larger battery and slightly less powerful components than the iPad Air…
Similar to the iPad Air however, it's been confirmed that Apple doesn't build their products to be easily repairable, so there's a lot of glue inside the new iPad mini. However, this is not unexpected.
Much more interesting is the discovery of the battery, which is now significantly larger, dual-cell and 24,3 watt-hours with a capacity of 6471 mAh. The battery in the first generation had only one cell and 16,5 watt hours. The larger battery was mainly used due to the demanding Retina display, and it also apparently makes the new iPad mini three tenths of a millimeter thicker. However, the new battery does not affect the durability of the smaller tablet, the Retina display consumes most of it.
As in the iPhone 7S, the A5 processor is clocked at 1,3 GHz, while the iPad Air has a slightly higher clock speed. On the contrary, just like the iPad Air, the iPad mini also has a Retina display with a resolution of 2048 × 1536 pixels and, in addition, it has a higher pixel density, 326 PPI against 264 PPI. The Retina display for the iPad mini is made by LG.
Like the iPad Air, the second-generation iPad mini received a poor repairability rating (2 points out of 10). iFixit however, he was pleased at least by the fact that the LCD panel and glass can be separated, which theoretically means that repairing the display might not be so difficult.
Is there a difference in mini vs Air in anything other than processor speed?
in the size?
The thing is, they don't really have a difference. The processor is such a marginal difference that it can't even be taken as much of a difference.
I'm of the same opinion... 100hz here 100hz there :-D I have an iphone 5 and it has an A6 processor and everything is smooth on it too :-) just like on the Ipad Air :-) The only thing I regret about ipads is that despite the powerful A7 chipset they can't record 720p at 120 frames and they don't have a fast shutter :-) I'm not saying that I would take photos with a tablet, but everywhere I read it's only a matter of the processor and not so much optics... Or at least no one said anywhere in the reviews - Thank you Apple for such excellent optics managing 120FPS and a powerful chipset :-D always just a chipset :-D
I am 100% connected to Minim. If you look up what I wrote here before: Let them make it more expensive, they will give retina, the same hw as a large iPad. They did everything, so I'm happy to order it (which is not to say that I wouldn't do it anyway - the A5 is simply not enough in terms of performance, I'm quite suffering :/)
I agree…. Like the A5, it doesn't run out of breath when it comes to the Internet and common applications... everything goes relatively fast there and after the delivery of a bigger patch for iOS 7 it will be even better :-) That's why my girlfriend took it from me :-D I, as a big lover of Xcom and I will use the big iPad as a strategy and I also use it for photo and video editing and occasionally as another controller for Deejaying for Serat :-) so for me the application will find more power, a retina display and a larger monitor :-) I would not want a mini because some the controls are still too small because they are designed for a large ipad :-)
They are smaller, yes, but the big ones hurt my hands beyond belief. My wrists hurt beyond belief because I just wanted to use it in my hand, I rarely have the iPad down and I'm hunched over it on my desk. And it didn't work very well with the iPad 2. The iPad Mini was a deliverance. If the iPad Air came out then, I'd probably go for it - in terms of the lower weight, but as I'm already used to the Mini, the Air would be heavy for me as well. A friend bought it, I'll have it in my hands tomorrow/the day after tomorrow and see, but probably won't change my mind. Holding in one hand and doing everything is just great.
And unfortunately also regarding the Internet and common applications. 512MB in connection with the A5 is unusable on iOS 7, it was already difficult on iOS 6 - I'm talking about the iPad (Mini), the iPhone is better. Multitasking can't keep up, you keep waiting for something, you keep loading something, it's just scary. Unfortunately, I use quite a lot of applications at once and I need it sometimes, so I wait a lot there. But then again, when I'm already in an application, if I ignore the new Pages, which cuts when marking text, bolding, etc., etc. (I always wait a few seconds), then it's completely smooth. I just can't go anywhere :-))
That's what the smaller ram memory does :-) which my girlfriend doesn't use multitasking :-) or hasn't started yet :-) she always goes to an application and goes to another one :-) Just a woman :-)
And I think you'll change your mind :-D it's harder, yes, but again not so much that it can't be used in one hand :-) now you can comfortably hold it in your hand like an ipad mini and it squirms :-) from my point of view, I'd rather welcome a bigger display :- ) it's probably not worth talking about any subtlety of the display... Iphone 5 and ipad air have such a fine resolution that I don't have a chance to see it... it's just strange that when I had LG Optimus 3D and 4X HD, it's something like an ipad with retina and an ipad mini with with retina even so, I never see pixels on those devices from Apple (except the mini), unlike the LG phone, where I shouldn't see them either (when they have a DPI greater than 300)
ram does a part, another thing is the processor, which slowly loads everything, that means when I run out of RAM in the iP5, I don't really notice that something takes longer to load. Because of the processor. But I'm still waiting for Miniha.
Well, that's the question, I'm pissed off with the 312g, so it's hard for me to get better, I think I probably wouldn't be able to upgrade to Aira, because I'm simply not used to it anymore. That suits me quite well. 21″ iMac, 13″ Air, 7.9″ Mini and 4″ iPhone. A perfect combination (however, a 27″ iMac, 13″ Pro, 7.9″ Mini and 4″ iPhone would be even better, in time :-))
I have a Macbook Pro 15 2011 with a 240GB SSD and 16GB RAM that I carry with me or keep it connected to a 27-inch monitor and peripherals at home :-) and then I have an iPhone 5 in my pocket and in my backpack most of the time iPad Air :) and Apple TV :-D I wouldn't want two more PCs :-)
The iMac has an incredible display. Why not two PCs (or Macs?). I'm planning to go for the Apple TV, I just have to think about what I'd use it for, anyway, before Christmas I'll probably buy a TC, which I've been drooling over for a long time, I've just been waiting for the new generation :-) Unfortunately, I wouldn't have much to carry a 15″, so it falls for me :)
I had 2 PCs and 1 Mac at home :-) and it's simply scattered across the disks, various information, etc. This is how I have one where I have 240Gb of basic data important for work :-) and a 500Gb disk in my bag if I'm going somewhere :-) and at home on a 2TB desktop :-) I use Apple TV as a set-box for streaming movies from iTunes, but I have to keep the laptop on all the time and it can't suck it up from NASU... which I consider the biggest minus :-) and then a few applications designed for Airplay but independent on the response ... because it is terrible even on the fastest Nwifins.
and TC is what?? I somehow didn't understand it from the context :-)
well - but it's different with Apple. I don't have data anywhere other than iCloud, only Dropbox, so it doesn't really matter where I am. This is solved by Apple // I was expecting something like this - and maybe for some type of work where work with large data is needed it probably wouldn't work, but it works for me :-))
And that's about it, it only works from iTunes on the Apple TV, but I don't have the movies in those and I don't want to convert them. I have them on the 3TB MyBook Live (where I now back up Time Machine) and from there I start the Czech via cable to the (samsung) TV and unfortunately I have to transfer the dubbing to a flash drive, which kills me beyond belief, so I usually prefer to watch it on the iMac.. :D
And to TC – It's a Time Capsule after all! Apple router with a built-in disk inside for absolutely problem-free Time Machine backups + a quality router, I am not very satisfied with Tp-Link and the difference between Airport Extreme/Time Capsule is 2k in Alge (where they have them cheaper) and that is for a 2TB disk and trouble-free Time backup Machine really not enough.
I know what TC is :-D, I just didn't know the abbreviation, what exactly it meant :-D unfortunately, it can't suck even from Time Capsule or Airport Extreme plus HDD... Otherwise, conversion as such is not necessary :-) Or, respectively, one FullHD remakes the movie in approx. 5-10 minutes :-) Mp4tools :-) where you can add audio tracks to one file :-) apple tv only reads audio up to 640kbps :-) which is quite sufficient quality :-) Everything I count on MKV to MP4. From Avi to MP4, encoding is already much longer :-)
Then I use Subler for subtitling, which then adds Tags and Covers :-) and then it looks something like this :-)
I didn't think you didn't know :) I'm just a little crazy :-))
wow, it looks very good, but:
1. I'd like to have access from multiple Macs - it's not just my two - it's going to be hard, isn't it? The main thing is that it is not in those devices, but on the disk - either WD or TC.
2. in this case it would play beautifully on the iPad, right? which would be beautiful
3. I have most of it in MP4, but I would have to recompile it manually, which probably wouldn't matter
4. when I'm watching on a Mac, I have MPlayerX which works great for me - sometimes I mute/boost the sound and just two fingers up/down on the trackpad/one on the magic mouse. Since then I can't use anything else :/
the four can't solve it, but if the first point is solved, I'll probably order an Apple TV :))
1. On apple tv, the apple id of the person on which itunes is logged in is only selected :-) for example, I will have 3 macs at home under the same apple id and it will suck from all three macs :-) if he is logged in on a different apple id I would have to manually go into apple tv and reset it :-) or pick up an ipad, sign in to the specific itunes and only then set share to apple tv on the ipad :-) which is probably the easiest way :-)
2. Yes, it can be played on all devices. I only encountered the fact that the film pauses for example 4 times. In my opinion, it has to do with the fact that ipads and iphones do not create a buffer like AppleTV (it has 8GB) and only stream live and when the Wi-Fi is loaded in a different way or the data transfer is very demanding (see hobbit around 19gb) then it just can't stand it and stops :-)
3. I myself don't have any movies on the Mac's internal disk :-) iTunes stores only the necessary information in its folder (covers, info) and otherwise takes the data from where it is stored :-) but with TC, I think there is a problem with sending: -) they have to take it from TC via wifi mac and then send it to ATV again via wifi.... so there is no great fluidity... or rather the speed of loading into the ATV memory :-) the movies start right away, but they are pre-buffered during the entire viewing time, so after 15 minutes of watching, you can happily rewind FULLHD as if it were on DVD :-)
3. It reads MP4 normally, but it would have to go through the Subler because of the covers :-)
4. I also use MXplayer :-) but mostly I found that itunes is enough for me :-) regardless of the fact that itunes consumes much less battery when watching under Mavericks than MxPlayer :-)
What's the point, the library would be homemade, but the point is that it would have to be created again and again on each Mac, or if it's the same Apple ID in iTunes, is that enough?
And where do you store it? I tried to add one movie to iTunes as a practice and of course it was copied there...
PS: We're not going to fight? :-)
You don't have FB?? :-) it would probably be better there :-)
For friends, we have barely started dating :-) but I have a Trillian, or icq, or iMessage

Congratulations sir on your introduction:) I would just like to recommend the Filebrowser program for Ios, it works in such a way that it plays movies from TC or other boxes even without the PC/Mac being turned on. There is a simulation and it has to be in Mp4 format, and I don't know how it is with subtitles, I don't use them anyway
I'm switching from an iPad 3 and can't wait. As much as it seems uncommercial on Apple's part - I think the iPad air is at a competitive disadvantage. But why not! Yeah
