From time to time, on the website of Jablíčkára, we present to you either an application that Apple offers on the main page of its App Store, or an application that simply caught our attention for any reason. Today we're going to take a closer look at an app called Charcoal for easy drawing and sketching on the iPhone.

Apps that allow you to create all kinds of sketches, sketches and drawings are usually not very comfortable to use on iPhones, and the iPad with its larger display is a better environment for them. However, the creators of the Charcoal application claim that they have managed to create such an environment in which you can draw beautifully and comfortably freehand even on an iPhone. Charcoal is among the drawing applications that provide you with a canvas for your free creation - you can choose the format of the canvas yourself. You will have at your disposal a fairly wide range of different tools for painting and drawing, from various pencils to colored crayons to felt-tip pens, highlighters and markers, there is also a ruler or even an eraser on offer, of course there are also excellent color palettes, and in the application you can also create your own palette.

The user interface of the application itself is intentionally very simple, but also clear, and you will find your way around the application very quickly. The Charcoal application offers the possibility of exporting your creations to other graphic programs, but it lacks support for layers, which is again the intention of the creators. Of course, Charcoal also offers support for a system-wide dark mode, and in iPadOS it supports multitasking functions. In the application, you can easily and quickly use the function of zooming in and out, the movement on the canvas is relatively fast and has a smooth course. But the more extensive your work is, the more the navigation on the canvas can slow down. The Charcoal app is completely free, with no ads, subscriptions, or other in-app payments.
