Yesterday saw a very unusual phenomenon in the Apple world. Shortly after the brand new iOS 8 received its first minor update, the Californian company had to patch download. For a number of users, it brought serious problems to their iPhones 6 and 6 Plus, such as the inability to log in to the mobile network or use the Touch ID function.
Apple can count one more among its PR failures in recent days. After the controversy caused indiscriminate distribution Sunrise Songs of Innocence by U2 and upheaval with bending iPhones the third inconvenience is the problematic iOS update with the number 8.0.1. The latter was originally supposed to treat several errors in the newly deployed operating system, but along with it, it also added several new problems. iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users report problems especially with the signal - the phones get stuck in the network search phase.
Due to these huge problems, the iPhone manufacturer immediately withdrew the update, but some users already had enough to switch to this version. Many of them always update to the latest system shortly after its release. If you belong to this group, don't despair. There is a way to turn your new iPod touch into a fully functional iPhone again.
The solution is to go back to version 8.0 through the iTunes application. The procedure is as follows:
- Download the 8.0 pro operating system file from the Apple website iPhone 6 or 6 iPhone Plus.
- Connect your phone to your computer. It can be a Mac or a PC, but it should have the latest version of iTunes installed.
- Launch iTunes and select your phone in it.
- Hold down the Alt (Windows Shift) key and click the Restore button.
- Select the previously downloaded operating system file and confirm.
- Wait for your iPhone to restore to iOS 8.0 and test that everything is working again.
After completing this process, the signal issues should be resolved. If you don't have a computer to connect your phone to at the moment, there's unfortunately no way to deal with this problem.
Apple has not yet commented on the serious error in the operating system, according to tweet diary USA Today however, the California-based firm is "actively investigating the issue and will update as soon as possible."
[to action=”update” date=”25. 9. 12:00″/]Apple has already issued a statement that it is working on a fix that should come in the coming days. Until then, it advises users to follow a similar procedure as above. “We apologize for the inconvenience, we are constantly working on iOS 8.0.2 which will solve the problem. We will release it in the next few days as soon as it is ready.” he said applepro The Verge.
They haven't been paying attention to what they're doing for too long, soon there will be a tipping point when it just won't be better to own an apple
I wonder how many people Jobs would have fired from Apple in the last year... I have the feeling that there have been too many faux pas lately and Tim Cook should be tougher...
I don't see what's wrong with Apple this year, it's taking steps it's never done before and which, on the contrary, it's always condemned...
– WWDC, in my personal opinion, brought more confusion to iOS, then they also opened up a significant part of the system to developers, which I think will lead to the Android Market principle, in other words, a lot of applications that will differ only in design and both sides will lose , both developers (greater competition, less likelihood that someone will download their app) and users (loss of privacy, security...)
– iPhone, breaking down 4-inches, introducing bendable tablet phones with a protruding lens and ridiculous thinness, when Cook himself admitted that the larger diagonal is intended mainly to get users from Android and to get a customer from the Asian market.
– Apple Watch, design from 2011. In addition, according to the keynote, it looked like the watch was not even complete yet (omitting battery specifications, info on 2 sizes, etc.) – moreover, it seems to me that Apple wants to destroy its famous “i” – Apple Watch , Apple Pay
– then the affair with U2 and now the faulty update
Poor Steve Jobs, he must be twisting like a propeller in his grave. Dear friends, I have a 4S and the stupid IOS 8 blew up my phone for two days.
But the paradox is that I didn't ask for the installation myself. I wanted to update OFFICE and PDF creator and it stuffed even the EIGHT without warning.
After installation, my phone froze so completely that I couldn't pair it with anything on this planet, it deleted everything and I only had the apple on the screen for almost two days. Couldn't even turn off the phone. I had to wait for it to run out. It was only the sixteenth attempt to restore the software and upload data from iCloud and especially contacts (approx. 1000 numbers) that helped me. But it was trial and error. I didn't look anything up on the net.
I didn't even sleep a day because of it. When will someone take the helm who is at least a little bit straight???
If they would rather release bluetooth to transfer data between IOS and ANDROID, instead of the cows and unnecessary design features, that would be something, but like this???
I can't shake the impression that the current leaders are systematically leading APPLE to ruin.
PS: it kept telling me "Your OS cannot be restored - general error #14)
So I uploaded iOS-8 and iOS-8.01 to the iPhone 4S/64GB last night without the slightest problem and I feel that it is faster than with the seventh. However, I always restore to a new system (except tenths and hundredths updates) as a new device. THX Apple, I'm satisfied.
Well, I wish you that. Somehow I don't have the courage to try anything else now after the fight. I would rather go back to the old seven but my mobile refuses to accept it…I am desperate and right now I only have one mobile….so far working. So I'll wait until something settled and confirmed comes out.
I am one of those who manage to download and install the update, and on the contrary, I really appreciate it. It solved the problem with the impossibility of streaming videos from all possible sources, and the described network and TouchID problems did not affect older phones. I have iP5S and iP5. But I understand that it could have caused problems for owners of new phones and I believe that today or tomorrow at the latest apple will release a fix in the form of 8.02. Speaking of which, does anyone know of an example that would responsibly solve dozens of Google problems on Android?
And to those bending phones. One nerd bends the phone with a lot of force and it's hellooo. Laughable. This is how you bend any phone. It's like kicking in your car door and complaining to the manufacturer that it's poorly made.
I completely agree with Jirka. I also downloaded 8.0.1 I have a 5S and no problems.
Yes, take the iPad and bend it in your hand. You will have a great following. That works too.
So too.
Everything is ok for 5s.
I'm not that interested in the Android world, but somehow I've never heard of any update de facto taking away the owners phone, but as I say, I don't know for sure, but I don't care.... on how many phones, how many manufacturers run Android and how many iOS 8 (4 + 2 latest flagships), so Apple should probably be more careful when it comes to such fundamental errors (internet, touch ID,...)
Of course, as far as bending is concerned, it didn't happen only with Apple, but with them it will swell to giant dimensions - although it is also somewhat justified, after all, a phone for 27k should be smart, but then again 5.5 inches tearing into the pants I don't see ... and unfortunately it wasn't with great force (that was the demonstration), visible bends are caused by simply carrying it in the pocket ... however, this also happened with the 5 and 5S from what I saw and heard the opinions of others
Allow me to disagree, each manufacturer adjusts Android for their own device. And a colleague once made an update on a Samsung Galaxy 3 and also had a problem with it, he even had to download the ROM from xda, otherwise it was almost unusable.
The iPhone 6 was supposed to be my first Apple phone. I have been postponing for a long time the moment when I will gladly throw my Galaxy S1, once bought as the most expensive phone on the market, out of the window and buy something that will not impress me with paper parameters and as a user it will bind me more, but which will be refined, perfectly processed, smooth and fast work. I willingly paid the non-Christian money for that :)
When reading reports about untested updates or design problems (bent in the pocket), my determination to switch to Apple fades somewhat. I hope it's just flies and I'll recover.
Every new system has "children's diseases", iOS7, iOS6 had them too, and all systems have them, not only Apple. This mistake is definitely big and I think some people are no longer employees of Apple….. But it is not major. For me, on the other hand, paradoxically, the faulty iOS 8.01 solved much bigger problems, when they could not play or stream practically any videos, not even from my iCloud account, from Vimeo, or YT, they could not stream videos from iVysíláná ČT or from iPrima, in short, nothing. Now, after the update to 8.01, everything works as it should.
All systems have similar problems, but as someone already wrote here, Apple is making a big media bubble out of it. Nothing more. Each new system is gradually updated by the manufacturer to "sit down", and it always takes some time.
I don't know what you mean by "switching to Apple", but if I had to give you some advice, if you mean buying an iPhone and you intend to continue using a PC, etc., then it's a waste of money for what I think is an overpriced phone. With one device from Apple, the advantages that only Apple currently offers, but only in combination with its latest products, are lost. I use a mac, so the iPhone was a logical choice as a phone from the point of view of the interlacing of services, but if I was using Windows, I definitely wouldn't have seen it at all.
mb pro is also in the plan, I'm clear there :)
I have an Iphone 4S and after updating to IOS 8 my phone started freezing and the battery life was 2,5 hours. After several reinstalls of IOS 8 I downgraded to IOS 7.1.2 and everything is fine again.
hey... and how did you manage the downgrade? It rejects me.
I found the IOS 7.1.2 version on the Internet directly for the Iphone 4S, connected the phone to iTunes let it perform a backup and while holding the SHIFT button I clicked update, selected the downloaded IOS 7.1.2 and let it work :)
well, I'm still on the 6 and I'm still happy with the 4S
Yeah, we're in the same situation, after the first six or five had lags, I always preferred to wait 5 days... and I'm also happy under Job's os, I had iPhones with 14 and 7 and it's still the fastest...
Plus the 7/8 look is ugh…
Apart from word of tanks, all apps are still functional and supported... but no news anymore...
It would probably need more testers. At the moment it looks as if they don't even have a testing department.. They would have to find such fatal errors immediately..
The current state of iOS 8 is perfectly described by Tabáček from Chinaski.
