The annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) took place on June 11 this year. The sixth version of the iOS mobile operating system was presented for the first time. Not long after we brought you the first shards, in which almost all the news of iOS 6 were functional. As time went on, you could read what improvements it received second a third beta version. After that, Apple already released the beta with serial number four, and last week also Golden Master. Today, the final version has been released to the general public, so don't hesitate to download.
You will need to update iTunes 10.7 and at least one of the supported iDevices:
- iPhone 3GS/4/4S/5
- iPad 2 and iPad 3rd generation
- iPod touch 4th or 5th generation
- iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5th generation will already have iOS 6 installed
The update can also be downloaded and installed directly from the device via OTA update. However, you will need at least 2,3 GB of free space.
The most striking novelty of the new iOS version is, of course, the new ones Maps. Even in the first beta version, we wrote maybe a little indignant article, however, everyone should try the maps in iOS 6 personally for their own opinion. Of course, we will bring you a second look, this time from the final version of the system. In short, it's worth mentioning new features such as the 3D mode of dozens of world cities, voice navigation or up-to-date traffic information.
In iOS 5 Apple integrated Twitter, in iOS 6 another social network was added - Facebook. Thanks to this, it is possible to update statuses directly from the notification bar, share content more easily with the share button, merge contacts with Facebook friends or view events in the calendar. The overall integration of Facebook (and Twitter) is non-invasive, so Apple users who do not use any of these social networks will not be bothered by their presence in any way. They will see only two redundant items in the Settings and two icons below the share button.
Brand new in iOS 6 is a brand new app passbook used to store various tickets, discount coupons, plane tickets, invitations to events or even loyalty cards. The web browser has also experienced pleasant changes Safari. As of today, it can sync panels via iCloud, full-screen mode has been added on iPhone and iPod touch, and of course it's a bit faster again.
Function Do not disturb will certainly come in handy for anyone who needs to turn off all notifications, vibrations and sounds at a certain time interval (typically at night during sleep) or once using the slider in Settings. The application underwent a complete redesign Hudba in the iPhone and iPod touch - as if the big sister from the iPad fell out of sight. The new iTunes will also get a very similar look at the end of October. Equally App Store has undergone interesting changes – a new look, faster response, more accurate search, downloading apps in the background or marking new apps with a blue ribbon.
Nothing so far :)
I'm already downloading it, it's quite slow, but I hope I'll download it :)
well, after ios, update osx as well =)
Downloaded quite quickly and I'm already installing and I'm quite curious about the speed of the OS on my IP4
Nothing on my phone...
You must via iTunes. You will not see anything on your phone. This is an update to the full version, it only works after connecting to iTunes.
I refute your claim; I'm downloading it on my phone right now.
JJ the same I4 and new Ipad are already being installed
FINE STRAIGHTEN. I WILL TEST AND NEXT WEEK IP5
won't it break iPhone4 like iOS 4 used to on iPhone 3g?
It's much better than iOS 5 for me.
I wonder how invasive Twitter itself is on iOS 6.. I don't have a chance to test it on anything and I wonder because I only use Facebook.. Thanks in advance for your reply
Me nothing…:-( The New iPad and IP4…do you think it could be because I have ios 6 BETA 4 on both devices?
I definitely had the same problem with ios5
We don't think, we know ;-) You need to download the IPSW file manually (Google will find it).
We don't think, we know ;-) You need to download the IPSW file manually (Google will find it).
I thought so... :-) I have it as it should be... thank you thank you...
Those maps are really crazy :(
And where are you from? I wonder if it will be the prerogative of those smaller towns/villages, or if it is a nationwide issue.
Olomouc - the map materials are, in a word, terrible.
EDIT: Same Ostrava, Prague. Well, the guys from Apple didn't really succeed in that (of course, the map data for cities in the USA, etc. are much better - orders of magnitude better than the old ones, but that's kind of useless to us).
So it will be dirt, I'm from an even smaller town. Does navigation from points A to points B work, for example using city transport, as it was possible with Google maps?
For city transport, it will offer you to download some navigation app (I guess it then pulls data from it, or I don't know, I have to try). But otherwise the navigation (cars) speaks normal Czech and works in default settings (without the need to download anything).
Thanks. Otherwise, I'm guessing that turn-by-turn navigation only works - as was said during the introduction of the first beta - on iPhone 4S and higher?!
So you have to look at Pribram, and there is no part of the map under Novy Rybnik, just some yellow spot :D
Yeah Maps are *PSYCHO*. Points of interest (POI) such as shopping centers, various tourist attractions, etc. are absolutely not found. And not even in Prague. google maps found absolutely anything that could be found in Google and had an address listed there - that is, almost everything.
Anyway, the old youtube was immediately replaced by the downloaded youtube application and bomb. Finally, I'm looking for the videos I need :) And the connection with FB was also nice - dragging a contact to the list with all e-mails and photos.
Has anyone tried accessing the app store or itunes? It says I can't connect. Otherwise, I agree that the maps are a failure :( Hopefully apple will work on it.
App store is also new and guys :)
sometimes it throws an error but otherwise it's ok. probably the servers are overloaded :) I had 14 updates on the iPad and 9 on the iPhone
thank you very much, I'll wait a while, I hope it will be ok :)
I've been trying to update since seven o'clock, maybe a thousand attempts, it always downloads 800 megabytes and then it says that it's broken. Fart him and again and again. It is normal? If the servers were overloaded, maybe it wouldn't run at all or it would be excruciatingly slow, but why does it download completely and then throw some kind of error? Or am I alone with this problem?
Just downloaded directly on my mobile via wifi..quite fast and without errors...it's time to install..
Has anyone tried applications connected to google maps? Sports tracker and Google Earth do not work!!!
jj tried GoogleEarth, Runkeeper, nike+, isic benefits everything works...
So I confirm, Google Earth works but Sports tracker still doesn't work.
Does it work without iTunes? :D
Yes, there's no reason why it shouldn't
Hey, does anyone here have a Passbook? I can not do it.
Not me either... I'm just wondering if the fault is in me :))
There are more updates today... iPhoto, iMove new things
We know, we write ;-)
Downloaded in less than 4 minutes...currently updating and I'm still writing from old iOS :)
Those maps are a real bummer. Mainly in Slovakia https://plus.google.com/110661014448312399844/posts/NqTVp2FXR12
how do I set the fullscreen mode in Safari? Has anyone found out?
Maps?? What is it, a big cloud is also photographed in the future, thank you. The weather in the notification list only shows the local weather... great
Those maps are the biggest SHIT I have ever seen…. Are they kidding???! I want google maps back!!!!!! Horror and horror
Maps are completely useless
Saving google maps is simple. Open in Safari http://maps.google.com :-) Almost like a native application
What about street view?
it's not really there
it's not really there
What about street view?
Do you know anything about google releasing an app with its maps in the near future? Because apple maps are seriously terrible in the Czech Republic...
Maps+ … free application with google maps
After downloading, it will show the new Apple Maps, so nothing…
Ah... so it's stuck... I tried it on iOS5 and there were google maps... so it probably shows the maps that are the default in the system, which doesn't solve "our" problem.... oh yeah, I probably won't update it...
Unfortunately, flyover and turn-by-turn navigation are only for 4s and higher and passbook doesn't work either
Horror and horror maps and the AppStore cannot send APP as a gift !!
Apple gone crazy !!

Apple gone crazy !!
Hi guys, I'm having trouble updating my iPhone 3GS. When I update on PC or iPhone, it says that my version 6.0 is up to date. Which sounds good, but unfortunately my iOS version is BETA.
Is there a way to tell the difference between the BETA and the FULL version in Settings? Or how to solve this problem?
Thank you, Scervinsky.
see post by Mishel1987 below
Downloaded to an iP4, then I don't notice a deterioration in speed or lag, but no significant acceleration either.
In general, the file has mixed impressions. A couple of improvements have arrived, but the Maps and YT applications are gone, and the alternative from Google is no longer available on the iPad and, moreover, it is delivered in Google language :((
Maps - total pruser - immediately moved among other useless applications from Apple.
So sumasumarum, on the iPhone installed on the ipad2, then I'm in no hurry to install, in fact this ios 6 takes more than it gives. Definitely the worst iOS update since 1.0 for me
: ((
Hi guys, can someone help me? I downloaded iOS 6 and backed it up in iTunes, and when I tried to restore, I didn't have the option to restore from the backup and I lost everything. Is there a way to fix it? For example, AVPlayer has disappeared and when I look for it on the app store in iTunes, I can't find it... can someone please advise me? Thank you
When starting (activating) after installing the new iOS, it didn't offer you the option to restore from a backup?
When you right-click on your iPhone in iTunes, you'll see options including restore from backup...
Well thank you
This is how to freeze up to this point in the OS...
App store is twitchy, confusing
Maps, unsurprisingly, a few generations behind google
Navigation, you can't even move the map once TomTom starts navigating
iTunes - desktop version enhanced with an iPhone interface
The most controversial update of all time iPhone, iPad, ...
Someone please tell Apple that April Fools Day is April 1st…. It's a really stupid forum with those maps. My city is gray, the part where I live is even under a cloud, the map documents according to (un)constructed buildings, I guess, 6-7 years old. In larger cities, I occasionally used public transport, which I searched mainly using the Maps application, where I was shown the departure time and the train number, now it is unpleasantly solved using third-party applications (two were offered, one free, the other paid; tried the application free, result unsatisfactory). The abomination of purple, which would not be saved even by the availability of turn-by-turn navigation, at least for iPhone 4.
As for the AppStore, it's not a bad solution, it's just different….a matter of habit…. As some wrote here that it was stuck, around midnight I tried to download about 3-4 applications at once, everything was fine. I don't really like the new colors in the GUI, the old coloring (dial, etc.) looked better, but I'd say it's just a matter of habit again. Little things like Do Not Disturb, rejecting a call with the ability to send an SMS/reminder later, etc., won't save the horror caused by such **** (insert the strongest term for hogwash you know) maps.
I can say for myself that I am seriously considering downgrading to iOS 5.x. I don't understand how a company like this with such a user base can afford to release an official version of - (their) much vaunted - firmware with something so unfinished. Even with a map from the 19th century, I can find my way around better....
Regarding the maps, I completely agree, besides, it shows completely stupid labels - I'm in the hospital in Hradec Kralove and it says Fakultni nemocnice Olomouc... nothing to add.
Such a Twitter will show me as Poland location when I add a location. According to the local location of the Weather app, I am also somewhere else than I should be….
Well, I happen to like the maps, they go much faster and smoother. 3D works there too. Other improvements are also useful.
even so that they are not faster when there is nothing to draw on them :D
On my new iPad, the brightness does not work automatically after the update. Does anyone have the same problem?
I'm connected to wifi again.. The session shuts down and logs out to the already connected wifi.. And the session finds the apple website by itself //
* does not work
I have the same problem with Wifi on my iPad 2. It keeps disconnecting, it works for a minute, then no traffic for a few minutes, then again for a while. Everything worked fine in previous versions.
Now my Wi-Fi connection is fine, the iPad is connected to Wi-Fi and does not log out from it:))
If someone has a problem with wifi after the update, like I had, try deleting cookies and data in the safari settings.
This is what my iPad 2 with iOS 5.1.1 did sometimes at school. Today with 6.0 it was better, but maybe it's just a coincidence, an occasional bad signal, ...
I have a problem with the Facebook and Instagram applications on my iPhone, they were fine before the update... with iOS6, it doesn't bother me at all and it tells me that I'm not connected to Wi-Fi - at the same time, Safari runs perfectly well and I'm connected here, and when I connect it so it takes an awful long time before something is loaded..
Otherwise JAS doesn't really work automatically….
It works, but it's more sensitive than before. It didn't work at all last night and after restarting the phone it works now. I'm testing in the sun today and it's fine.
Regarding the map complaints...could feedback help? That they would at least offer the original maps in the appstore...
When you go to the menu (below the bent roll in the bottom right), above the "print" button is the item "report a problem"... so report! Maybe I'm naive, but if negative feedback doesn't get to Apple, they're in no rush to improve.
Complete agreement. I also see a single puck in this medium. And maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing if Jablickar wrote about this topic and gave instructions to all readers on how to most effectively pressure Apple with comments!?!?!
I want google maps! This apple shit can't be used!
The maps are really terrible. Melnik - satellite Chernobyl with a giant cloud. Apple really pissed me off with this one. When I'm home, I'll try to write to Apple, but I'm not holding out much hope :-(
The Do Not Disturb button is good, but unfortunately it also works for the alarm clock on the iPad 3, so I was quite surprised in the morning ;( A bit unthought of...
that's very nice of him. did not disturb.
The maps are really a huge disappointment. I expected that Apple would manage to bring them to some decent quality. I did not believe that they would be better than Google maps, but I did not expect that they would be so much worse. They shouldn't have been released in this state at all. I hope that Google will release an application for iOS where the possibility of its maps will continue to be used. I know, I can still use them in safari, but I'd rather use the app directly. First Apple product that I can say is unusable, at least for me.
They are Bing maps, which unfortunately cannot compare with Google maps. The labels are probably from Tomtom, because I think once upon a time there was Oleška instead of Olešná in the TT navigation :)
Just completed the upgrade. My first impressions are the very ugly buttons in the AppStore (really very ugly), and I don't like the blue list in Settings, etc. it took a stab, but google maps via the net works the same way, so I wouldn't take it so tragically.
Regarding maps - what about different cycling and other sports applications that use google maps - do they now go with apple maps? Does anyone have any experience, thanks...
E.g. Sports Tracker pretends to use Apple maps (at the bottom left is a "legal" link that redirects to Acknowledgments Apple and TomTom...)
well, I use a runtastic mountain bike and I would hate to lose it or have the wrong maps on it... But it is a fact that when I choose the map background there, google maps are under the label "preset map", which would indicate that it drag the default map that is in the system - in iOS5 google in iOS6 apple ... so probably stupid ...
I am also wondering. As I wrote yesterday, SportsTracker does not smell after the update. He tries but always fails! Is it because it doesn't have map data??
I'm not going to evaluate the maps, others have done that and quite rightly... I'm actually interested in the Passbook (non)functionality. What's the point when, after being redirected to the Appstore, a message is thrown that it is impossible to connect to iTunes? Or am I doing something wrong? It's not even in the settings... Any advice?
All in all, I'm a bit disappointed and disillusioned, and I think that under Jobs, iOS 6 wouldn't have gone well for them as a whole...
Tragedy. Graphically/color definitely a step back... Maps not consulted. Unfortunately, with this release, Apple only confirms that without SJ it simply isn't the same anymore.
So I went back to 5.1.1. I didn't like this 6...
So I went back to 5.1.1. I didn't like this 6...
So I went back to 5.1.1. I didn't like this 6...
How does it come back please? Thank you Lucy
I would also like to know how to get to iOS 5. Thanks
iOS 6 on 3GS much snappier than iOS5. Faster system, better battery life... I'm very satisfied. For me, probably the best iOS update that took place...
I confirm that it works flawlessly on the 3GS.. I was afraid that the new iso phone would be slow and I'm really pleasantly surprised that it's just the opposite :-))
it's pretty clear from the comments that it's not worth updating. I honestly thought it would turn out like this. The fact that the maps will be worse than Google's was clear a long time ago. Well, the rest just disappointed too. I have an iphone 4 and half the stuff wouldn't be supported there anyway. I hope that apple listens to feedback from users and makes some changes for the better, because this is seriously unacceptable..
I have an Iphone 4 and I feel the system slow down, do you know what the problem is?
it's a classic, he sent out a new ip 5, so somehow he has to force you to buy new ones, I advise the latter not to update older iPhones after the release of the ip 5
iOS6:
Apple is obviously missing a person who will look at the matter as a whole, think for a moment and send the author of the proposal around the dustbin back to the drawing board...
top bar: why is it black as it was on the main screen and light blue everywhere else? the text on the lighter background lost contrast
phone buttons: ok, I understand the change, but I don't see that there is anything wrong with those buttons when I press the button, let alone on the sun, when I no longer have a tactile response, now not even a visual one. it just hurts my eyes
email update: better +
vip: I still read everything that comes :)
passbook: travel pres http://www.passsource.com it works, but I would expect it to be able to be made in the application...
settings icon: they polished it up a bit :))
bluetooth is in a better place, but I still don't use it, but it's piece by piece
maps: what are you kidding?? how can they let this out? a company like apple. catastrophe. even the streets in the light sit in the background so they can't be seen, God forbid, when I zoom out on the map, I can't see the streets at all, only signs with the road number :))) only the lands of universities are highlighted....) in Prague, for example, here, I hope someone at Apple doesn't think not really? After seeing the map, I think that the only designer there was Jobs, just go to his washroom and you can see it. nothing new and it's worse. I want to have a choice of map provider in my apple phone, this is a monopoly worth fart!!!! I want Google back, and in 10 years it will be like headphones, so nice, but now it's not a finished product... 3d models are fine, but only in London and New York.))) I probably won't even consider satellite images. it's just blurry.
I don't see how someone can judge after 12 hours that their battery will last much longer.)
probably for iOS6. I'm already looking forward to iOS7. Apple -10 points and iPhone5 ... nothing new matched the competition for 3 months. Will there be any new attacks?
How can I judge better battery life after twelve hours? Simply…. with iOS5, when I set the alarm, it was charged to 100%, so in the morning I had around 50-60% battery... when I set the alarm at night with iOS6, I had 74% in the morning... I go to bed around midnight, I get up at about seven anyway hours. So I guess :-)
Initial experience:
I thought that Apple would build the option to turn off 3G into the initial settings and instead removed the Location Services setting and nested it in the menu. Of course, BT is in the settings on the first page. I'll probably buy some BT peripherals to finally appreciate it. Really pruser……

So I "found" another bug in iOS 6: any link to the Appstore - even from the Internet or an application, such as Appoday - only takes me to Featured and not to the application I clicked on... I can't help but feel sick it's starting to get really annoying! I don't even want to ask if I'm doing something wrong...
So I partially take it back... Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... E.g. here on jablickari, tips for application links do not work, but in the current discounts they do... Could it be a redesign of the app store?
guys? iTunes disappeared from my iPhone, what?
dear,
I have been a happy daily iPad user for a year now. I'm not a techie, I'm a regular user and the technical details are completely stolen from me, so I'm not stunned by how revolutionary the system is, etc. However, I downloaded IOS6 and now I'm very surprised. I'm not going to join the angry comments about the map, which are horrible.
I consider the addition of an icon with a clock in world zones to be a kind of mockery.
On the other hand, I am shocked by the fact that the icon with direct and simple access to You Tube has disappeared as part of the battle of the giants. I often use it for professional reasons, and my 6-year-old daughter uses it even more, who easily accessed various children's videos there. It was simple, clear, just great. Now we have utrum. I want to ask the more technically advanced, if it is possible to go back to IOS5? Resp. do you have any advice on what to do with You Tube in IOS6?
Thanks.
I miss setting the email font size :-(
