The annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) took place on June 11 this year. The sixth version of the iOS mobile operating system was presented for the first time. Not long after we brought you the first shards, in which almost all the news of iOS 6 were functional. As time went on, you could read what improvements it received second a third beta version. After that, Apple already released the beta with serial number four, and last week also Golden Master. Today, the final version has been released to the general public, so don't hesitate to download.

You will need to update iTunes 10.7 and at least one of the supported iDevices:

  • iPhone 3GS/4/4S/5
  • iPad 2 and iPad 3rd generation
  • iPod touch 4th or 5th generation
  • iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5th generation will already have iOS 6 installed

The update can also be downloaded and installed directly from the device via OTA update. However, you will need at least 2,3 GB of free space.

The most striking novelty of the new iOS version is, of course, the new ones Maps. Even in the first beta version, we wrote maybe a little indignant article, however, everyone should try the maps in iOS 6 personally for their own opinion. Of course, we will bring you a second look, this time from the final version of the system. In short, it's worth mentioning new features such as the 3D mode of dozens of world cities, voice navigation or up-to-date traffic information.

In iOS 5 Apple integrated Twitter, in iOS 6 another social network was added - Facebook. Thanks to this, it is possible to update statuses directly from the notification bar, share content more easily with the share button, merge contacts with Facebook friends or view events in the calendar. The overall integration of Facebook (and Twitter) is non-invasive, so Apple users who do not use any of these social networks will not be bothered by their presence in any way. They will see only two redundant items in the Settings and two icons below the share button.

Brand new in iOS 6 is a brand new app passbook used to store various tickets, discount coupons, plane tickets, invitations to events or even loyalty cards. The web browser has also experienced pleasant changes Safari. As of today, it can sync panels via iCloud, full-screen mode has been added on iPhone and iPod touch, and of course it's a bit faster again.

Function Do not disturb will certainly come in handy for anyone who needs to turn off all notifications, vibrations and sounds at a certain time interval (typically at night during sleep) or once using the slider in Settings. The application underwent a complete redesign Hudba in the iPhone and iPod touch - as if the big sister from the iPad fell out of sight. The new iTunes will also get a very similar look at the end of October. Equally App Store has undergone interesting changes – a new look, faster response, more accurate search, downloading apps in the background or marking new apps with a blue ribbon.
