Do you own a tablet with a bitten apple on the back and just updated it to iOS 5? Then know that the new system offers certain functions that are not available for iPhone or iPod touch.
The home button is (almost) useless. With multitasking gestures, which are unfortunately only available on the iPad 2, controlling the iPad takes on a whole new dimension and is damn addicting. There are: Settings > General:
With Apple TV, the content of the display can be easily mirrored to another display. This convenience is called AirPlay mirroring and is again only available for the iPad 2. If you don't have an Apple TV, you'll have to make do with an HDMI cable, which can be easily connected to the iPad via a reducer. If you want to connect the iPad 1 in this way, only certain application content will be displayed on the external display - image slideshows, PDFs in iBooks, video, etc. For a demonstration of AirPlay mirroring, watch the video in English.
We are getting another useful feature that is available for all generations of iPad - keyboard division. If you don't have a place to put your iPad for comfortable typing, or you find it difficult to type with it in your hands, you will definitely use the new type of keyboard often. How do you divide it? Simply. Just grab it with two fingers (preferably thumbs) and pull it to the opposite edges. The split keyboard is also adjustable in height. The keyboard is connected by dragging two of its parts to the center of the display.
Browsing the Internet is more enjoyable with iOS 5. In Safari, a panel of open panes has been added, which significantly speeds up switching between them. In iOS 4, it was necessary to tap the display twice – to display the pane menu and to select a pane. Now just one tap is all it takes.
In iOS 5, you will no longer find iPod, but separate applications for music and videos. And right now Hudba it got a completely new look, reminiscent of an old radio, but in a modern Apple design.
All iPad users will be deprived of weather and stock widgets in the notification center. iPads do not contain applications Weather a Stocks, which is certainly a shame. Also missing Calculator, Dictaphone or voice control – Voice Control, which are well-known applications since iOS 4.
I'm not sure, but after pressing the Home Button 3 times in quick succession, some Voice message appears and mumbles…. what's going on?
That's Voice Over. Service for the visually impaired. Just anticipation, not listening.
Thanks to Gestures, I no longer use the Home Button at all on my iPad 2!!!
And do you know how I unlock the iPad? I have a case with a magnet that the iPad thinks is a Smart Cover and unlocks the iPad when I open the case :)
Well, my fault is the choice of reminders based on the location in the iPad1 :(
Don't worry, I don't even have them on my iPad 2.
I'm extremely satisfied with iPad 2 and iOS5, I don't even use the home button - only to stop the "shaking application" if I delete one... or can it also be activated via a gesture?:P
Well, I don't know if it's a gesture, but the "shaking" can be canceled by extending and retracting the notification bar. So from the top edge pull to the middle and then back again. I found it by accident :)
Thanks! Now I don't have to use the home button at all :-)
How about deleting apps from settings. You also have a description of how many MB it takes.
You really don't need the Home Button at all (except for taking screenshots)!
Why on earth can't there be gestures for the iPad 1 as well, it eats up such performance? I hate apple right now.
The split keyboard is also adjustable in height.
??? So it doesn't work for me. Is anyone else feeling the same way???
You have to hold it by the keyboard button on the bottom right.
Yes, it works, thanks…
David:
Peace. Gestures were available for both the 1 and 2 many months ago in iOS 4, but it took a bit of a clumsy activation. However whoever cares about them will get them working, I did it myself on both 1 and 2 and it worked beautifully. No need to jailbreak. (http://www.ijsmblog.com/2011/03/how-to-activate-secret-multi-gestures.html)
Interesting detour, thanks
I have a feeling that this no longer works in iOS 5. It was only for iOS 4.x. Gestures are so important to me that I stayed with the previous iOS 1 on the iPad 4.35. I just got so used to them that I would miss them. I've never had a jailbreak, but it will be for iOS 5, so I'm only going to it because of the guest. Apple pisses me off that they only use marketing gestures for iPad 2... It pisses me off mainly because until now they have been activated without a jailbreak...
Exactly, I'm the same way.
If upgraded, the gestures will remain.
with iOS 5 I can't hear the sound of streaming video. broadcasting ct4 etc. but mp3 you tube works
What I like is the "Reader" when it takes only the content of the middle of the page and displays it as in a book, you don't have to look at side banners and other things that don't interest you.
But when I switch between applications with gestures, the iPad has something to do with it so that everything goes smoothly. If I switch between 5-7 applications in this way and finally close it with the last gesture, the animation of the application moving to the center of the screen with panels almost doesn't happen and just disappears.
So it seems to me that they haven't finished the clock application for the iPad yet, I would like an alarm clock in the system, otherwise everything is great
however, set an alarm via the calendar or install, for example, Alarm Rebel or XtremeMac Alarm Clock
The keyboard can also be divided using the keyboard symbol in the lower right, where it works for you…..just hold and it will work for you :)
I have such a problem with ios5, its installation sometimes my ipad2 cannot find the sim card that is inserted in me and I have to turn the ipad off and on. Does anyone have a similar problem? Thanks for the reply
I'm a little sad about replacing the iPod. What I would like is that it is not possible to go up in the playlist and shuffle it, I will replace it by tapping on any song and turning on random play.
What bothers me much more is that I still haven't figured out how to start playing all songs from one author. I used to have a "Play all" button for one artist's CD, now not even a tap, shuffle all tracks is not there either... Does anyone know how to replace this functionality?
For me, iOS5 doesn't bring anything very interesting... And with those gestures on iPad1, they upset me so much that I go back to iOS4.3.5. Gestures worked so beautifully and I got used to them so much that I can do without it... And Apple is going with their promotion of new devices to... I'll buy an iCab or whatever it's called on the Internet and I'll stay with IOS4, besides, I got an error when installing iOS5 and I had to restore 2 months ago, so anyway all the data like music, books etc. I have to copy there. So I definitely do not recommend installation
